And in reply to Bear's post, yes, the DSi can connect directly to the net, like a mini laptop :)

Explore Nintendo DSi - Discover the many features of the portable game system, then dive deeper.

Ahh, right, thanks unky, I was pretty sure it did (usually anything that has a little 'i' on the end does) :)

Ya I noticed the internet and camera thing when I was trying to compare. But he is only 6 so he doesn't need that. But then again if I am going to invest in it I should get the better one. But I wasn't sure. Really he doesn't need all the fancy things so maybe I will stick with just the cheaper. Wasn't so sure. Big price difference!

Really? How much? In Mauritius, the DSi is not yet commercialised (always a year or two late on everything :()

If I were in your shoes sunny id do the same, weigh up what it is that you and your son want from it, then see which is closer :)

Well there is a DSi package, not sure what's in it, but it was about $169.00. Compared to just a DS its about $80 more I believe if I checked it out right.

Jeez, maybe I could buy things and mail them to you. Might almost be cheaper sometimes.

You mean 89 USD? OMG That's awfully cheap! I got my DS for about 120 USD...

Well I was guessing the prices went down since a new one came out. I don't know. Of course I am only starting to look so maybe I was looking at the right thing.

What's the difference between the DS and what bear said, the elite?

    Lol! Not elite! :p

First came the Nintendo DS, then the Nintendo DS Lite, then (actually the latetest, as far as I know), the Nintendo DSi.

The DS, dual screen, microphone, wireless included, touch screen, DS and GBA slots.
The DS lite, same as DS, but additional features, contrast adjustable and 'slimer'
The DSi, same as DS lite, except there's no GBA slot, but there is camera, you can connect to the net, you have a slot for Mini SD, you can record sounds (songs, etc)

    This is a DS

This a DS lite, (which you can get in many different colours :) )

Unky said before that his DS has a port for Game Boy advanced cartridges, I don't think the DS lite has them, though one again I'm not entirely sure on that :)

If you can see well Bear, you'll find a rectangle outline on the base of the DS lite, which you posted. I've got a DS lite actually, not only DS ;) and mine is black. When you close the console, the upper cover is dark blue, and I love it the way it is :)

So in all my air headedness, which would be the better buy. From what I am getting out of it, he doenst need the camera and other nonsense so the DSi would be out.
I am really not this simple!
