I could see the confusion and curiosity in those children's faces as they were interviewing their parents on the subject.

J, mind if I vanish with you? I've been feeling a bit low my self. Got tested for my tyhroid. I could sure use a good vanishing.

I hope you feel better soon. I hope everything works out for you.

At that age, it's up to the PARENTS to explain sex to their kids. Third graders are 8-9 years old. Schools need to wait until they're at least 11-13 before going into details about sex. It's simple not an appropriate conversation at school for an age group that young.

Give them all the correct names for body parts. Explain about the different types of families. Give the basics of how the reproductive system works. But schools just do NOT need to be explaining the finer points of sex that young.

Hey tickle and muddy... I wanted to tell Bella about Brett Michaels being in critical condition from a brain hemorrhage. I think that's the one she thinks is so cute.

That's a Bernese mountain dog! They're huge! I love the breed, they're gorgeous dogs, just too much for me to handle.

Come for a visit and adoption. Chloe and Bernie can grow up together. :)

That face is just asking for loves and kisses. I can see you with that dog Bear.

I also picture you with number 4. That dog just has so much soul in her eyes. If I didn't already have my limit I'd be bringing her home.

What do I have to do to talk you into it? :)

There will always be dogs in the shelter, that's a sad fact, so call me when you're ready and we'll get you a furry friend. :)

If I could, I would give them all a home. However, though Rissa forgave me for bringing Chloe home, I don't think she would be as forgiving if I brought home a few million. (On second thought, I don't think Cats would be either.)

I don't think I should adopt any more pets for a very long time. My track record is interesting.

About 3 years ago, I adopted a couple kittens form my sister. They were both boys, even the vet said so. Then one of them got pregnant and had four babies.

A couple months ago, I adopted a little stray. She had six babies.

Every time I adopt a pet they end up giving birth.

Hell, I even ended up adopting a pregnant fish. Granted, the babies got eaten before I could do anything about it, but they were still there.

A little bummed out. Feeling kind of invisible these days. Been thinking of taking a break from a few things. One being the shelter. I'm trying to keep my peeves to a minimum, but I am failing miserably.

Are your peeves anything you want to talk about?

They aren't anything new. I am just not letting them get to me.

As far as I can tell you aren't invisible here. Did you change your settings? :)

    Everything okay at the shelter?
  • Apr 23, 2010, 08:13 PM

No, it's not okay at the shelter. It's taking a toll on my life and it's making me feel like an awful human being. I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel... stupid. It's not even about me, but I seem to be making it about me.

This dog is getting put down, I don't think he should be. I am so upset with the things I have been seeing. And I feel helpless, it's completely out of my control. I used to love going on the dog forum, I really used to enjoy it. Now I can't even bring myself to go on it.

I can't even explain how I feel right now. I think I may take some time off AMHD too. I don't know what's wrong with me.

I am sorry about the dog. Working at animal shelters can take a huge toll on anyone with a heart and I know you have a big one. Taking a break might be a good idea before you get totally burned out.

I can tell you that the past couple of weeks have not been easy on you. From surgery, going back to work early and topping it off with the news about getting laid off. It is enough to send anyone into a downward spiral. Maybe you need to switch outlets for a few days. Give yourself time to recharge by spending time with your family (daughter and pup).

No one would think less of you if you need some 'me' time. As you have probably noticed, you will be missed (by me for just one person) and if you ever want advice just start a thread. Not only will you get advice, you will get comic relief and probably end up with it hijacked a few times. :)
