Currently, I have an accountant, a lawyer, a marketing director, and a few goonies to do my bidding. As far as costs go, I bought a restaurant that's down in the dumps, and losing about 10k a year, and realized that everything was wrong with it: food, employees, location, and the lack of marketing.
I changed the recipe...surveyed and sampled, people now love the food.
fired all the employees, hired new ones.
location, something I can't change, but...oh well.
the lack of marketing...I'm up at 7 every morning and canvassing...literally going door to door, mailboxes, businesses, and handing out coupons, flyers, menus, etc.
In the past 8 days, I've seen hundreds of people that ask, "...did you guys just open? I had no idea this place existed," and have gotten calls that ask where we're located, then to find out that they live 2 blocks down the road.
so far, so good. The ground pounding just seems to kill me. Regardless, I'm seeing a lot of progress.
...can I work as a exec in your company? ;)
