    Stringy, thank you.

I certainly do hope I know what the heck I'm doing. It's only been a week, and I've already run into a few problems... zoning ordinances and such... but I'm sure it'll get handled sooner or later.

Currently, I have an accountant, a lawyer, a marketing director, and a few goonies to do my bidding. As far as costs go, I bought a restaurant that's down in the dumps, and losing about 10k a year, and realized that everything was wrong with it: food, employees, location, and the lack of marketing.

I changed the recipe... surveyed and sampled, people now love the food.

Fired all the employees, hired new ones.

Location, something I can't change, but... oh well.

The lack of marketing... I'm up at 7 every morning and canvassing... literally going door to door, mailboxes, businesses, and handing out coupons, flyers, menus, etc.

In the past 8 days, I've seen hundreds of people that ask, "...did you guys just open? I had no idea this place existed," and have gotten calls that ask where we're located, then to find out that they live 2 blocks down the road.

So far, so good. The ground pounding just seems to kill me. Regardless, I'm seeing a lot of progress.

... can I work as a exec in your company? ;)

You will be successful... failure is not a word in your vocabulary Sneeze.

I have been thorough this many times I can help you.. (we'll settle later.. ha ha no... not necessary) my degree is in marketing and business management. I have first hand successful experience and I am always taking refresher courses and seminars.

An Idea, and I know an entrepreneur in your business that did this with a ton of success: Get a list of names and addresses in your marketing area (buy it if needed... prices vary) send them a letter... yes a regular letter. On the outside of your envelope in bold letters state that there is a coupon inside for first time users that is from $5.00 to $35.00 off their meal. But they must come to your place before... (pick a date... ). Obviously have a lessor % of $35.00 (or whatever you choose) coupons and so on.

But it creates mystery, separates YOU from all the other flyers in their mailbox AND... ta da... THEY must TAKE ACTION BEFORE A CERTAIN DATE... creates urgency...

Later... but I have more ideas...

    OPS... Sneeze...

I forgot ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING:

Tell them on the outside of the envelope that they cannot open it... THEY MUST bring it into your place and after their meals and drinks... then they can open it to see what their discount IS... IF they OPEN it before it is no good. The waiter has to open it...

This brings them to your place.............ta da....It works Sneeze...

I miss the bunny. The bunny was cute. The bunny was cuddly, people wanted to pet the bunny, hug the bunny, kiss the bunny. No one wants to get close to whip girl, they're scared.

Stringy, those are actually very good ideas, but I believe I have misled you.

My restaurant is a fast food place. No waiters.

The demographic in the area are low class, low-income, and at times, are on welfare. Trust me, my place is a dump... I got the whole place... for less than a lexus.

I've canvassed 3 major subdivisions in the area with coupons for 20% off, and in the past 8 days, I've gotten 11 of them in my store... so I'd like to think it's a decent turnout. I have another 7 subdivisions to go through, and afterwards, I'd like to go to the schools in my area and talk about catering, handing out $5 - 10 gift cards to students (the class with the most perfect attendance... or something like that), and then go to churches and talk about catering their events.

Then, I am going to implement a "delivery to businesses" deal where I deliver to major businesses (50+ employees) if they have a min order of $35.

It's my 3-phase plan for marketing: canvassing, catering, and delivery

I just did some numbers and found out that I have increased about $100 a day than the other guy did last month, so... we'll see how this goes.

    Keep them coming stringy

Ok... you have done some good things so far... keep thinking... volume dictates profit also.

You can still do the sealed envelope... and they could still bring it in and after they order... then the cashier can open it...

Schools: Give coupons away-mass marketing. And do the "reward" thing also.

Churches: Do a fund raiser, offer the church maybe 5% back when the customer tells you they are from that church.

Catering: excellent idea... keep the menu light.

Many very successful people here in Chicago that started with push carts years ago, hot dogs, hoagies, etc. Petrillos Hot Dogs is one of them.. he started this way--NOW 27 restaurants; w/ hot dogs, Italian beef, many things and he is very efficient and quick. He did the 50's thing... old dinner. He now has many upscale ones now also...

It works Sneeze, hard work, push yourself, never quit thinking, dreaming... I will read about you in Wall Street one day, I know it.

That picture looks almost exactly like me around 15 years ago. In fact, I have a picture that looks almost the same, same profile, done in black and white. That picture could be me, not now, but at 22, yes sir. :)
