Hello Red! Yes, it's been a long time :)
I've seen you on Facebook, here and there.
Thanks! :)
So, how are you now? Did you get your results yet? :)
No results until September.
I'm so so glad there over,I found it tough going,I'm confident I did well, however hindsight is a wonderful thing,I always regret something I did not write down.
How are you? How's your mother and sister?
I'm fine, my mock exams are in about three weeks :)
And the final year exams will be at the end of October, till mid or end November.
Trying to revise all the things I went through since last year...
Mum and sister are okay, they're watching a local comedy right now. They're been learning some guitar... that's it as news...
Ah... freestyle... the fastest swimming style I know... but can match butterfly.
I prefer backstroke though, been my favourite, least tiring for me :)
Breathing is my problem, although it should not be if my position is correct, very frustrating!
I have some neck problems which is proving difficult of me to reach the trough of air,my reach is good, have been told my kick is strong, but something is off balance, that I cannot get into the correct position to take a breath.
Any suggestions? Or drills I can practice?
Well, when I learned, my breathing too was not so good. I was pulling my head too much off the water and this resulted in a 'disbalance'.
With time and practice, I learned to raise my head so that my mouth was just touching the surface of the water, without swallowing any of it.
You can try holding a floater with one hand and use only the other hand. At each stroke, try to raise your head just to the surface of the water. Do not try to breathe then, just in case you happen not to raise your head enough. You will breathe on 1 out of three strokes if you can, or two.
So, when you don't breathe in, try to raise your head just enough, while avoiding 'disrupting' your strokes.
It's a little difficult for me to explain this in English... :o
Might seem a little weird but I imagined an air bubble under my armput when it was coming out of the water and so pointed my head in that direction to breath when doing free style :o
Yes, in fact, if you can turn your head 90 degrees, that's fine, and if you can turn your head less than that, using the trough of the water, it's even better :)
Btw, you don't have to open your mouth like an 'O' to breathe in, you can open just the part above the water surface... a little like a 'P'.
When trying to swim, I sink like a brick. Doesn't seem to matter what I do...
Lol Clough! :p
Don't take it like that... take the dead sea, you'll float there!
And if you get a good and nice teacher, I'm sure you'll learn quickly. Swimming is first a matter of floating, which becomes easy once you know what movements to do to keep afloat. From then, I'm sure that you'll want to learn diving. I so much like to go explore some of the coral reef and meet the fishes, and other animals there :)
Thanks for the tips unky... im determined to master freestyle,I'm jogging too, just to get some resistance training, damn legs can't go the distance and lungs instead of gills... but... I... will... succeed!
I trust you Red :) You'll just do fine!
Hello all!
Hello.
Hey Emop, how was grad?
Hey guys.
Was that red or am I seeing things? Dam wine gets me every time.
You people like to talk!
Yes red wine.
Have you ever gone on a wine tasting?
Well last week I did and it was to fun.
Graduation hasn't happened yet. It's at 7 and it's only 3:50 here so far
Hey hey sunny... I know I know,I'm a hound...
I'm here, beer in hand and ready to get jiggy.
You're lucky. My graduation was in the middle of the afternoon, on the football field. There was a heat advisory out warning children and elderly to stay inside. They shortened the ceremony, to 3 hours, so we wouldn't all die of heat stroke.
I have no fond memories of my graduation. The only reason I went was because my mom made me.
Hey heath, how's edith and the new place?
I love it here. Plenty of room and lots of windows. Good neighbors. Within biking distance of pretty much everywhere I need to go.
All the kitties are great. I've actually started harness training spot and edith so I can take them outside. Spot's not too sure about the whole 'outside' thing and cries and begs to let back in. edith doesn't even notice the harness and just enjoys being allowed outside for the first time in more than 3 months.
Unky scared the daylights out of me this morning, though. Edith woke me up to feed them and I was just lying in bed cuddling all the kitties before getting up to fill the food dish. All of a sudden, unky made the loudest, most pain scream I have ever heard come out of an animal and bolted from the room.
I chased him down and tried to examine him. I finally ended up wrapping him in a towel and pinning him down. The entire time, he was screaming that terrible scream. One of his eyes was kind of goopy, so I cleaned it out. He's been fine ever since. He must've gotten something in his eye.
The worst part about the screaming, is that unky is a very quiet cat. He almost never makes a sound. Even when he and his siblings are play fighting, he usually just runs off if they play too rough. I think that's the first sound I've heard him make since they were mewling infants crying for milk.
