My wife was just at the doctors for cramped muscles in her back and received some good advice;

For lower back; lay on the floor flat, bend your knees and bring your legs up, cross one leg so that your ankle is over the other knee and pull that leg so it twists to the opposite side and repeat then with the other leg. This stretches the lower back muscles. He told her to repeat this three times for each leg and when finished lay there for about 10 minutes to let the muscles relax.
