Quick q to the ladies.

I'm buying new sheets. Yes, it seems absurd to even ask for advice on this topic. I've always had black satin sheets. I like satin. It's soft, it keeps me cool at night, and it looks really nice. The girlfriend is somewhat opposed to this idea. When I asked her about it, she said, "It's a girl thing."

I've googled, "What does black satin sheets mean?" but I got nothing. Did I miss an issue of Cosmo because it got lost in the mail?

It may be because of the "player" connotation.

Black sheets are sexy, mood striking, something a single guy uses to lure the ladies into the sack.

When you're in a relationship, black satin sheets are no longer okay. Buy cotton, preferably something with little flowers all over it. That says "I'm not planning on bringing anyone else into this bed, heck, I barely want to sleep in it". :)

Haha skip the little flowers and go for 300 count or higher cotton sheets. Solid colors are fine, but remember darker colors aren't forgiving when it comes to umm well... you know... Try to stay away from black.

Satin sheets definitely sends out player vibes. I've never enjoyed satin especially in the summer months. Now silk sheets, that's where the money is! :D

As alty said, go with cotton. Since I'd rather sleep on the floor than have floral bedding, I would suggest a plain color or stripes. Something simple and functional.

Just stay away from the camo.. back away and don't go near it. Get cotton for reguler times and get flannel sheets for winter. Trust me on that one. She will love you too for it.

Haha, camo?! I wouldn't go near camo if my life depended on it. I'm currently submerged in a camo/overall culture. For a city boy like me, it's bizarre.

Where I'm headed, there is no winter... it's 90 degrees year-round. I may keep a spare set of cotton...

Is it the black or the satin that she is opposed to? Maybe just a different color... and not red. :D

Hell, stab the mattress, the walls, a teddy bear, slash your clothes to ribbons. It's all better than using the knife on yourself.

When you move out and start your own life, get a new mattress. It's amazing how getting rid of something with so many bad memories can make a HUGE difference when you're starting over.
