I was wondering, is this one of the ways some of the members get to expert status? By lots of posts in places like this? Or does the ranking only effect your status?

The number of posts doesn't make you an expert... the mod gods have a system in which us simpletons can't understand... they grant the "expert" titles to those who seem to have a certain knowledge in a certain category. I've seen people with 4000 posts that haven't made expert, and I've also seen people with 120 posts that have the title expert.

Interesting, does your title change at all based on the number of posts?

Not sure, it may... I always thought it changed based on the number of "agrees" you get.

You go from new member, to jr member, to full member, to senior member, to ultra. Although, that only means you have answered a certain amount of questions, it doesn't mean that you have given good advice. The number of greenies you have, which shows how many times someone has agreed with the advice given, is what gives you your credibility.

You can, I believe, apply for expert status, and depending on your experience you may or may not get it.

I hope I explained that well enough, and if I'm wrong in the way I did, someone will be here shortly to correct me! LOL!

You can always go to rules and regs, and snoop around there too. ;)
