American idol is rigged... it should have been Kris and Danny in the finale next week.
What an upset Danny should have been in it I am mad I will not watch idol again
I do believe its rigged to some extent, but not at this level.
It just goes to show that American doesn't vote with their ears.
On the other hand Kris has been coming up each week and improving each week.
But Adam has given consistently outstanding performances wek after week. Even in his worse performances, he was still better than many of the other players. NO WAY that Adam should not have been in the final.
I do think Danny should have been there too. But there is no question in my mind and there hasn't been since they got out of Hollywood that Adam was headed to win.
I don't think Kris has the performing chops to make it as a concert performer. He has the vocal talent, but I don't think people will pay to see him in concert. I do think people will pay and pay big to see Adam. I know Adam will be a dominant force in entertainment. Concerts, recordings and movies.
I don't see Kris or even Danny having the impact on the industry that Adam will, win or lose. And people in the industry know it. The judges know it and have for a while.
Its only the teenyboppers eho do the majority of the voting that don't know it.
You know chris daughtry came in 3rd too and look how big he's become! He's actually more successful than the 1st place winner taylor hicks. Shows you how important winning american idol can impact their career doesn't it?
I think Danny was the best... I'm sad. :( I like Kris, but I really really dislike Adam. Adam will take it and I will SWEAR not to ever watch it again... but alas I will be sitting in my easy chair next January... watching Idol...
For some reason, Adam is generating such reactions among a large group of people. It may be his goth like appearance, or his slightly effeminate manner or the sexual orientation thing. Or maybe that he has been pegged the likely winner almost from the beginning and people dislike the front runner. I think that is part of why Danny was sent home early.
While Kris has come on strong during the last few weeks, I still think of him as more of a non-entity, then any of the others.
But for all of those who will vote for someone else because they dislike Adam, I have to remind them that this is a competition for the best singer/performer. The purpose of this competition is to find someone who will be a commercial success as a singer/performer to make more money for the producers of the show. There is no question in my mind (or the minds of many others, especially professionals who have the knowledge to judge, that Adam is that person. I think it's a shame that Adam had to resort to a contrived contest like Idol to get the recognition he so clearly deserves as an outstanding singer/performer. Win or lose he WILL have a better career that Kris.
By the way. I would love to see Adam do a revivial of Rocky Horror as Dr Frankenfurter.
Scott,
I will give Adam this much.. he is a natural. Never looks nervous, always hits every note, comfortable in his goth like skin... lol ( sorry, guess I don't like that look... I'm a fudy dudy). I closed my eyes to listen to him... I don't like his voice. Oh he can sing but it ain't sexy. I like the MALE voice. When a male is singing... he sounds too much like a woman. But I do agree it is a singing competition and he can hit every note unlike Kris. I'm STILL voting for Kris... hee hee. ( sorry if Taylor HICKS can win... ANYONE can... that year it wasn't a singing competition!)
P.S. Adam WILL have a great recording career, that is a given.I actually think all three will and so will the little red head girl.. she was AWESOME too.
Scott,
I do actually. Maybe it is his tongue... drives me nuts the way he sticks it out. You know what else it could be.. I haven't LOVED any song he has sang. Not one.. don't worry, he is GOING to win it. I'd bet money.
I actually agree with a lot of that. The tongue sticking out bothered me a bit also. But I stopped keeping up with popular music in the 80s. A lot of the music of today turns me off. Like that Katy person who performed last night. I could hardly understand a word she sang. Many of the acts that have appeard on Idol have had me scratching my head. Many of the songs Adam performed I never heard of. But that's one of the reasons I'm so high on him. Even with a song I had never heard of, he made the performance enjoyable. He uses melody and lyrics like very few artists I have encountered. I think that's why the judges are so high on him. I think he's the standout artist they have been searching for since the show began.
I'm with you. I have NO CLUE who Katie was and I wasn't groovin to her either.
Oh well, if Adam wins he will deserve it, unlike Talyor Hicks! I am still rootin for Kris to knock it out of the park so it is at LEAST a contest.
Okay, it's the last night, between Kris and Adam. Any last minute guesses?
I am rooting for Kris, but thinking Adam will win.
Just cause I like Kris's humbleness. Not at all that he is A} From the South and
B} From ARKANSAS to boot!!
My problem with Kris is that he is too laid back to be a good concert performer. While Adam has the power to get people out of their seats that Kris doesn't have.
Adam deserves to win and he should win. If he doesn't win, it won't be on his talent, it is more likely a backlash against his persona. But win, lose or draw Adam WILL be the most successful Idol EVER.
Agree with you totally on all of it. Figure Adam will win for sure. He is star material. Have been rooting for Kris just cause he reminds me of ,you know, kid you see grow up at church, good singer, strumming on guitar, etc... someone you want to see succeed... (boy-next-door type thing)... Guess it's the small town thing I have in my soul, too! Although, Conway's big town by Arkansas standards!
Woot Kris Allen won =P
WOW he did. I was surprised, and GLAD! But I still agree that Adam should have...
Shame on me, my southern roots may dry up.. Oh yeah, its probably the fact that I was born in New York. {But don't let the neighbors know... I paid a lot for that Birth Certificate from Atlantah}
Oops, was typing before you posted... zips lips.
I soured on Idol when Melinda Dillon got an early boot. I've watched this year initially because my wife and daughter watched. Then I got caught up in rooting for Adam.
But this is it for me. If America can't recognize talent, I'm not interested.
I saw the end. But some of our Canadian friends, as well as west coast friends have not seen the end. For some, even the beginning. I missed the KISS performance.
And Adam was awesome with them. And Adam was awesome just about EVERY week. I give Kris credit, he grew into a genuine contender And in many other years he would have deserved to win. I think he is better than David Cook.
But Adam took an early lead and was clearly the front runner. He set the bar very high and everyone else came up short in the comparison. Its clear based in the last four years that America doesn't know talent or, at least doesn't vote for talent.
But we will see, Adam will sell more records, have more successful concert tours, do more in the entertainment business then Kris can even dream of.
When I was watching this episode, although I've been supporting him this whole time, when he was finally announced as american 2009, I felt something was wrong. He didn't seem like someone that would win idol, I don't know why but that's how I felt. Don't get me wrong, he's a great singer, but he's too humble. I think if he had a concert, no one would go see because it would be so boring. He's more of a cover person, like on the internet or w.e
We were talking about this at work tonight. Most coworkers preferred Adam for obvious reasons and because Kris moved around too much, waving his arms, etc. Kris also seemed to be trying too hard last night with playing the guitar and also the piano ("Look how versatile I am!"). Also, many of the disappointed Danny fans from last week jumped on Kris' bandwagon to foil a win by Adam.
I'm guessing (and hoping) we will see a lot more of Adam.
This is the thing I have been saying. Sure Kris is a better story, Awe Shucks, good ole boy from small town Arkansas, Nice family, really battled to improve himself. All of that is true.
But what American Idol is Supposed to be about is to find someone who can sell records and concert seats. Someone who will, essentially, payback the sponsors for their investment in the show by having a successful recording career. From what I've been able to tell, only Clarkson and Underwood, of the previous 7 years have done that, though the jury is still out on Cook. Kris is not in that class and as good as he is and can be, he never will be. Adam, on the other hand, has every indication of being multi-level threat. He will outsell every other Idol contestant on the charts. He will out earn every Idol contestant on tour. I think its possible he will be one of the few to ever win a Grammy, Emmy and Oscar and maybe a Tony. I just think he's that good.
Simon alluded to it in an earlier show, that Adam was just the type of person they have been looking for for 8 years. There is no question in my mind that Adam is the best EVER to grace the Idol stage. Even Kris said that "it should have been Adam." I think all the contestants knew it early on, and the competition was really for 2nd place.
But there is a bright spot here. The winner gets (is required to accept) a contract with the show for recordings etc. I'm not sure if the second place contestant has to accept what the show offers or can negotiate their own deal. If the latter is ture, then its probably better for Adam that he came in 2nd. Because they will be lined up at his door starting first thing this morning. If Adam had won, you would not see the same queue at Kris' door.
I have been reading that Danny's pastor had posted a Twitter begging the Danny-voters to vote for Kris, since both are Christian, and it would be great to have an aw-shucks, down-home, clean, farm-fed Christian boy win AI.
I totally agree with you, Scott. Few would be lined up at Kris's door had he come in second.
