Remembering those who 'serve' not just the armed forces or the police,they are important in the larger picture,but the little people we tend to look past...they do more for society than we truly return to them.A card(or a six pack) can say a lot.

Sometimes it's the kindness of strangers that touches us the most because it's so unexpected. And, yes, I remember the people who go the extra mile all year long - the UPS man, the people who collect the trash, certainly the woman who delivers my paper.

Sometimes it's a gift, sometimes it's a card. It's just nice to be thanked.

I'm in touch with the ICU nurses who were so wonderful to my husband and have sent them a basket of fruit - I don't know if anyone looks back after a medical ordeal but they truly are unrecognized, underpaid heroes. The Doctors sort of swaggered around but it was the Nurses who every day held me up, explained things and treated my husband with such kind, gentle hands - and who cried with me when he passed.

So - hug a Nurse today! (If one isn't available, hug a Pharmacist.)

Yes, the nurses are the ones who do most of the work sometimes, and yes the pharmacists too! The Dr.'s always seem to get most of the credit, when they wouldn't be able to do their jobs if it weren't for the others who take care of things for them! :D

Hi J,how are you? Are you ready to do the holidays?My surgery has been advanced to tomorrow at 10:30 AM,I am VERY ready for it.

I'm glad the surgery has been advanced. I'm sure you are ready to get it over with.

An aside, I have a doctor I would like to thank also. This particular doctor actually takes orders from me!! :D:p I just make a phone call and poof... he does what I ask. :D

Basically, yes, doc on demand... and it's NOT the OB doc I work for, just a family physician. Well, he was the one who wrote my recommendation for nursing school. :D

I made a phone call about my FIL, who is quite ill at the moment, and voilà... he got admitted, not through the ER, is having blood and wound cultures done, being rehydrated, and broad spectrum antibiotics.

I feel so special. :o

Unfortunately, he's not having a baby, so there is little I can do aside from communicating with his doctor.

Is your surgery out-patient?

OH yeah,outpatient all the way.

Scope work then kicked out 2 hours after time in recovery.

I didn't know you read here or I would have said "J9 and all the other Nurses." In my husband's case I saw Nurses say to Doctors, "We're here 24/7. You're here for 10 minutes. Believe us." Amazing -

They pulled me aside and said not to believe this Doctor but to trust that one.

And I don't know how you/they do that every day. I come home sometimes sad about what I do. I can't imagine dealing with the thin line between life and death every day. And the ICU Nurses - how they stay compassionate is beyond me.

And they were great to me during my recent about of surgery. Maybe the bad ones are locked away in the basement, or something.
