It's hard to describe in English. Schatzi is what you would say to a child. Schatz is what you would say to your husband, or an adult friend you care about.

Actually words like 'tooken' or botten' (for bought) were commonly used by back country people, settlers and you will still hear these colloquialisms being used from time to time by people brought up listening to it and using it at home even knowing the proper English usage. My mom was well educated, I am, but at times fell back to this at home amongst ourselves. So it is no indication of poor English ore being uneducated.
Words like "tooken" and "boughten" and "gots" are also kid-speak before they have figured out irregular verbs.
