    From the other side:

The most perfectly named animal is the yak; that's what you do whenever you smell one.

Yellow bellied sap sucker. It's a bird.

Zu. Just so I can swear. :)

Edit: It didn't let me type it! But it's a dog breed! Oh for goodness sake. ;)

I don't want to spell or say it correctly. My way is more fun. :)

Besides, their names kind of fit their looks.

    Just my opinion. :)

And the temperament of most I've dealt with. So I guess the name is appropriate and not so lame.

Now "men" is a lame name.

What about "women". I'd rather be called a gal. :)

    LOL! Dream on! ;)

Caterpillar. I always thought that was strange.

Reminds me of a pussywillow story. It's German tradition to get pussywillow branches at Easter and make a sort of Easter tree with them. You then hang hollowed out decorated eggs on the tree.

One year, after begging my parents to get a cat, my mother told me that I could make my own. All I had to do was squish a pussywillow between two rocks, leave it out in the sun for a few days, and it would turn into a kitten.

I swear that I must have gone through an entire tree of pussywillows before I decided that I was either doing it wrong or mom was lying through her teeth! ;)

The slimehead was renamed the orange roughy so people would eat it. Same for the Patagonian toothfish, now the Chilean sea bass.

It's not the name of an animal, but I hate names that are spelled differently than they are pronounced... example, a company name "Geeseling" I would pronounce that like Geese-ling. But it's pronounced like Gazelle-ick

Which could you charge more for at the restaurant, a Southern Freshwater Langustino or a Cajun Crawdaddy?

Best part of a crawdaddy. Suck it out and dip the tail in cocktail sauce. Mmm-mmh!
