Less than ten minutes ago, Jett fell face first and hit his nose... I have an appointment at 3:45 for a doctor... but it is swelling and not real balck and blue, but I can see a bruise starting. I wonder if there is anything I can do besides ice... or if there is something I shouldn't do. Thanks in advance

Should I have him blow into a tissue? It bled real bad for a while, I finally got that under control. But there are still signs of blood as his nose is runny right now from crying. I gave him a IB profin

Ice is what is used in this case. DO NOT have him blow his nose into a tissue, this will only reopen any capillaries that have closed due to the ice.

Ibuprophen is good. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done for him other than what you have already done. Unless his nose is laying over on his cheek, supportive treatment is the only treatment. That means, ice, motrin, motherly love.

Poor baby, give him a hug for me. Tell him it'll be all right.

Bah. I'm on Central too, J.

I just always think you're eastern for some reason.

Okay, then it'll be 7 for both of us. I always think you are Eastern too.

Better go charge the phone batteries, we always run them down. LOL

Ohhh, thank you J. I should cancel the appointment then? There is no use in going if you already told me what to do??

I suppose, I have to keep the appointment for peace of mind... He is just in pain, I feel so bad for him:(

It wouldn't be bad to keep the appt just in case.

Get him some ice cream on the way home. That's what I got every time I hurt myself...

... ended up hurting myself just to get ice cream.

But it's OK, I turned out OK.

I will get him an ice cream cone... heehee, you are one sneacky sneezy. He is feeling better, but the appoint is still a go. Thanks guys!

I agree with Sneezy, keep the appt and get the boy and ice cream cone. Actually, this is not only emotional healing, but can help heal him physically. Hopefully he will get brain freeze. LOL, not joking though. It is a vasoconstrictor which, in layman's terms, means that it will constrict those little blood vessels and stop any future bleeding.
