Mathymathmath right J? Is it better than taling with us? Or you just taking a break?
  • Aug 16, 2007, 02:03 PM
    J_9
Oh, it was math all right. Heparin Protocol, D over H times Q = X, Millileters per hour and drops per minute.

Even though most of the new fangled machinery in a hospital does all of the calculations for us, we have to know them to pass our boards AND if the power goes out in times of emergency.

Many schools do not even teach math for nurses, I am one of the lucky ones who must pass a test every semester to continue on in school.

Beautiful picture by the way Start!

Yeah, my doc keeps telling me its just part of the pregnancy, which I know, and to eat more bananas and increase my electrolytes, which I know... but neither are working.

    Oh, I hate bananas...

Orange juice and kiwi fruit. They have higher levels of potassium than bananas and it is a decrease in potassium that is causing your charlie horses.

    Morning all!!

I can't drink Oragne juice, but may be able to handle the kiwi... I will try thanks.

    Math coming along all right?

Can you eat dried apricots? They have the highest amount of potassium. Even avocados have more potassium than bananas.

Here is a website that has high potassium containing foods so that you can add them to your regular meals.

    High Potassium Foods

Math is coming along great thanks for asking.

Wow... it took me three years to pass basic math... LOL... but I can calculate interest! LOL I could never even try to do medical calculations... I was always so confused in chemistry class with all the yielding and stuff... I would surely kill a patient if I were a nurse...

Yeah, I just can't have really acidic things. Orange juice almost instantly makes me sick, and it is NOT good coming up... I will try the apricots, although Im not fond of the taste, Im less fond of the cramps :D Thanks for the link.

Here's a math question for the office I work in.

Situation: You share an office with a yacky-duck, add one snoring business owner and two customer complaints.

Question: How many martinis over how long a time frame will make you not care anymore?

Stop! I'm starving. The crappy, extruded chicken with some stuff that a one time had some association with a potato that I had for lunch is not cutting it.

    I want something good.
