I just want a real kitchen, you.

I won't even be picky about the countertops.

I am done with wanting a butcher block. They sure are cool though. I am a little depressed now! That is OK, I will have acres of fun waiting for me to take care of and needy inlaws. Hmmmph, I will be just fine

The floors in the new kitchen will be hardwood... The whole house has hardwood already... I really like that... What kind of counter tops do you all recommend then? Can't have those type of germs with the little ones.

I do like it! I love it Al what color is it now?

Its an earthtone from the counter top... its called sandstone I think... but it si just a dark tan. I really want slate or ceramic tile in my kitchen floor... I have nasty linoleum right now... The kitchen was the only thing the previous oners redid but they were horrible at picking out color schemes... im an artist, and I nearly fell over when I wlaked in to light pink, light blue, light yellow, and mint green walls.. loll

Myth I suggest Corian countertops... they make some that look like granite now, but are easier to clean.

I'll look it up and see what kind of prices I can find... is that the same as those dishes?? I know I probably sound stupid asking that question but hey a closed mouth don't get fed... lol

I believe it is different from the dishes... I have never personally had the corian, but my sister has and swears by it... of course polished concrete is really poular too. It looks awesome and its really inexpensive

Corian is much less money and looks like granite. I thought it was granite when I walked in. You can clean it easy and it is a smooth surface. Look shiny and clean all the time.

And don't forget your aseptic technique when cleaning properly.

I just use a bleach bottle on all surfaces. I think we need some bacteria to live and be immune...

Just a note for those of you who want slate or stone floors: be VERY careful what kind of finish is put on them. Some companies will put a horrible finish on the floor that looks GREAT... but is 5x as expensive to keep up. Check with someone on the cost of stripping and refinishing before you choose your finish.

(yes, I work for that kind of company)
