I hate white walls. It's one of the banes of renting. Almost everywhere I've ever lived had white walls and brown carpet. I'm glad that half my rooms are wood paneled, where I live now. I don't mind that the kitchen, dining room, and extra bedroom have white walls.

What's even worse is that off white, like the beige or tobacco stained coloured walls in most apartments.

I hate white walls too. My friends recently painted her walls that bright white color and it is so, I mean so ignoring. I like earth tones colors. I remember when I was looing for an apartment I saw a place where the walls was painted an awful light bright green color with red carpet. Can you say ewwwwwww.

Couldn't you ask to repaint? Tell them that the color makes you want to vomit, and lay down rugs everywhere?

Hi, Daisy (or do you have another name you would prefer to be called?). Welcome to the Chit Chat thread. Please, call me Cat. Yes, I belong to (well, with) Catsmine (Cats).

Fair warning, these threads can be quiet for a while and then suddenly have pages of added posts.:)

Considering I have white walls, white ceilings, and light gray carpet all of which I greatly dislike, I am living in Bella's nightmare. :)

On the bright side, colored light bulbs work well on white walls.

The back of my hands and my face are about 3 shades redder than they should be. My arms are a little pink. Looks like I need to invest in some much needed sunscreen, soon.

Cat I just shuddered a little lol.

I used to live in this apartment and it had powdered blue walls, but not even a nice blue, it was like hospital from 1967 blue. Not cool.

Oh by the way, in case you are wondering I'm Bella :)

Like Cat said sometimes these threads are so quiet, and next thing you know, you go to the bathroom, and you have 10 pages to catch up on. Lol

Not good heath! You need to get that pink and blue zinc that chip n pepper (is that who they were? ) wore on their noses.

This burn is a minor one. It'll be mostly faded by tomorrow. It's just not really summer until I get my first sunburn of the year.

    Lol. Yea heath. You.

Poor Lady is conked out on the floor belly up, legs in the air. She had a rough day today. Swimming and running.

This heat's gettign to the kitties. They've spent most of the day lying in the dining room. Even the linoleum is warm, though. I only have one fan, in the living room.

I was out running errands earlier. When I came home I stripped off my sweaty clothes and ended up with kitties licking the salt off my legs. I'm trying to convince myself that having clean towels is worth going back out in the heat to do laundry. Then again, I could always just air dry.

Someone convince me to go to the laundromat within the next half hour.

Well how dirty can the towels really be? You only used them to dry clean water off your clean body.

Oh wait, go to the laundry mat.

I think I'm going to wait till tomorrow. It's supposed to rain. I can save money, not dry my clothes, and just bring them back to hang dry. The rain should make it cooler out.

Or you could wash them in the rain...

Ok all you décor experts how about some suggestions for colours for my hall, stairs and landing. I'm still filling cracks in and sanding so not been for any paint yet. I'll be getting a new carpet so there's no restrictions on matching to anything. Any ideas?

I even did some plastering for the first time and I'm pretty pleased with the results, but I've no idea what colour I fancy.

As tempting as that is, I'm not sure it's doable. I will, however, be washing smaller items (like bras, panties, and some of my shirts) in the sink. The less money I have to spend on laundry, the better.

    Sounds good heath.

Q I would be the wrong person to ask. I have bold tastes when it comes to paint.

What colors do you like? Earth tones, cool tones? I've always been partial to sky blue or a blue-green in the bath room with the dark accents.

Kind of like the pics below.

If there are windows that let in a lot of natural light, then a light yellow will amplify the light and make the space seem roomier.

The light comes from bulbs, then a light blue will accomplish the same thing. Just try to stay away from the powder blues, as they can get overwhelming and candy-like over large areas.

Greens can be touchy, and will look sickly in the wrong light.

You could always go for bold and use a bright, vibrant color. Think little kids' crayon box.

Heath, I found one of those old school washer and ringer dryer at this yard sale, I paid like $2 for each. I wash all my socks and underoo's in there, plus E's clothes too. All I need now is a butter churn.:cool:

having never had the option of choosing colors for my walls, I haven't spent a great deal of time thinking about it. I know a few basic guidelines, but it's hard for me to imagine how most colors will look on walls.

someday, I want to have a 'striped' wall. I'll start with a light base, probably yellow. From there I'll have 10-12 little containers of paint with a brush in each one. I'll pick up a brush at random and swipe it across the wall at random. Repeat until it looks done.

a couple years back I helped splatter paint a wall. It was fun. We just poured paint into our hands and threw it at the walls ^_^

I've always wanted to learn how to churn butter. And weave fabric. And spin yarn.

I think it would be amazing to be able to take raw fiber and turn it into a finished blanket, or something.

Someday, I will build my own loom.

this is my living room. It's just a happy coincidence that the furniture goes so well. The couch and loveseat, end tables, and console came from different places, and just happened to match each other AND the room ^_^
