Oh Rebbie, you are way too sweet. Big hugs to you, you put a huge smile on my face. Those bunnies are definitely easier to clean up after than mine. ;)

Cotton, Thumper, Oreo and Kilala send their bunny hugs, and a little nose twitch and a huge binky. Thanks Rebbie. :):):):):)

Thank you Firm, this is a Holiday weekend in the U.S. as you may or may not know. It is in memorial for Fallen in war.

Personally, I lost one uncle in WWII and another that was crippled when he was shot down.

Yup, you know, I have a full family line in the Navy. My Gr. Grandpa, Grandpa, Dad, and two of my three brothers , one left as soon as he could, and one just made First Class last week! I just want to say remember... just remember, if you can't remember, learn about what someone else remembers. Listen to stories, listen to the tears, the laughter, the adventure and the sorrow that these men AND women went throguh. Just so you (one person) and me (one person) can be free. When I say free, it isn't the same as it was then is it Stringer? Oh geeze, I get so mushy... Hugs and love on Memorial Day!

    Hi Joe... how are you?

No Start, it is not even close. On my street we were the only one to have our flag out. It seems it was too much trouble or too patriotic to do so. When I was younger, you saw flags everywhere and it wasn't just a "commercial" where the big thing is a "Memorial Day Car Sale" put on by some foreign car manufacturer using heroic National Anthem music. Is that all these young people gave their lives for?

No! I hate war but I do pay homage to all those who like any young person, didn't want to die in war but did, and God Bless them all... And I thank them, every one of them. Thank you, and I thank my uncle from the bottom of my heart.

Each Memorial Day (Independence Day) we went to my uncle's grave when I was a kid in Pennsylvania, he was 21 when he lost his life over Germany. I remember how my other uncle would always stay longer at his brother's grave standing with his cane and with his head bowed, both were pilots. It didn't take me long to understand.

I am sorry if I offended anyone here this morning, this "holiday" means a lot to me and I don't want to see another sister (my mom) sit and show her son pictures of her brother when he was alive and young... and see the tears.

    Thanks for listening,

    Stringer

Stringer, bless your heart! It was warming to me to read your posts and I do thank you and all others who serve or have served in our military. I lost friends in the Viet Nam war... a war I didn't fully understand, however, always fully supported our men and women serving and still do. I send thank you forwards and personal notes to some friends who served in the military thanking them even to this day. It seems to be appreciated. They felt so unappreciated when they came back home. My great uncle was at the age of 108, the oldest living veteran in Missouri that served in WWI prior to his death when he just went to sleep on Easter Sunday morning. His brother followed a close second to this when he passed at age 104. I lost the person I thought I would marry because of the Viet Nam War. The President of our Teens for Christ at high school died the first year after he graduated from high school and went to Viet Nam. His life and testimony and death has touched so many people's lives. A good friend of mine only two years ago was able to come to terms with Jed's death. They were best friends. Mother's brother's all served in the military. I have photos of them standing side by side. My mother's cousin and her husband were missionaries in Siam before it became Thailand. They had to leave in the middle of the night and had two babies... walked through country areas, wooded, etc. some people were kind enough to feed them and help them out of the country. They loved the people there so very much.

I think everyone has been touched by war whether they have personally known someone in the service or lost family members but so much more those who have felt that loss so deeply and I am so sad for your family, mine and all others. Yet, with pride, we lift the memories of those up all the time but most especially as we give them honor of remembrance and appreciation during this time set aside in a more formal fashion.

Realizing this site is viewed world wide, I don't think anyone would begrudge us of expressing our gratitude here for those who seek to serve and protect. We know war touches everyone, both sides, all families hurt from the ravages of war. War leaves no one unscathed in one way or another. We must act and pray for peace for all of us.

I just join you and all others in giving honor to those we have loved and lost and to those who suffer physical and emotional problems and are still with us as well as the family members and friends. The survivors sometimes suffer such guilt for surviving yet we honor all of our service people in all manner we know how.

I stand with you Stringer in appreciation for our men and women in the armed services. I am glad we have a time set aside just especially to honor our fallen and wounded, just as we have other holidays set aside for other groups, celebrations and honors.

Stringer, my dear, thought I'd add a few flags here just for occasion with pride. My Dad, Step-dad, husband and his father, and many friends (I worked for the military all my career life) have a military history.

When I was a child this day meant so much to me that I got goose-bumps every time we saw the parades.

I lost friends in Viet Nam, both times in Iraq and in the Pentagon and Towers on 9/11. I cannot imagine my life without having people in uniform around me and still feel proud of those who serve.

So, needless to say I'm a 57 year old ''Army Brat'' and PROUD!

YouTube - GEORGIA ON MY MIND Michael Bolton and Kenny G.

This is the song that reminds me of 'home' and where my daughter was born. I love the way Michael sings it too. So, my dears when you hear it, please remember me - no matter where we are.

No worry folks, I am just having a few sentimental moments of wonderful times, places and events in life and am sharing them with you.

    Love,

Jrebel, Chery and Start, thank you so much..

Sometimes, those that did survive and came back, wonder why they were spared and others weren't. I know my uncle felt this way...

He survived being shot down; he told me, your life doesn't flash in front of you. You lock on to the ones you love the most and you tell them how much you love them.

My thoughts are with all those friends that I lost in Nam, especially this weekend.

Wow dear, that was a long time.
Jaime enjoyed the stories of her birth every birthday until she got into puberty. Especially when I told her dad to 'shut up and count'! When I was busy huffing and puffing and he was babbling on about something stupid. I also always told her that after she was in my arms for the first time, all the pain I went through was forgotten (well, almost)..
Neither of us regret those few hours in a lifetime to receive such wonderful rewards afterwards, and I know you feel the same way.

    Congrats Mom!

I think that's great. One of my brothers was born on Jan 1 and the other was always jealous of all the fireworks until he understood it was not for his brother...

    Right back at you start..

Guess what (now this is going to make you envious), on Friday there will be a cleaning team of three coming to my place for three hours!
I talked to the administrator of our Cancer Group which I sort of supervise, and she said that her office has talked about and approved this team and they will foot the bill since I am physically unable to do a lot of the housework lately. This just totally flabbergasted me. I get to 'delegate' WOW.. Poor Larry, he'll probably hide during this time (or run from the vacuum cleaner and be exhausted) and tell me off later when we are alone. He gets more jealous than a two legged man when I have company - and these people will not just be sitting and talking.

What will be even more fun is watching my ex look out the window and notice the help and attention that I'm getting. He seems to have thought the I would be all alone and helpless without him... NOT! Oh, revenge is such fun. NaNaNaNaNa... I get to be Queen For A Day.. (well 3 hours).

Awww, you are so sweet! Colton says happy birthday to all of you, heehee... he doesn't understand that it isn't everyone's birthday... it is so cute, haha.

Chery... you are so right... the pain diminished the second he was put on me and I saw his cute little face/fingers/toes/and all the rest ;) Congrats on getting a cleaning treatment! You must be so excited... if only someone would offer services around here, lol.

Alty... Happy (early) Anniversary! Woo Hoo... here's to 13 more for the both of you :) :)

Anyone do anything exciting today? Not us... worked this morning and did lots of cleaning there. I took Colton to see his great-gma and we all took a nice walk to the pond to see the ducks (I hope he remembers these times with her when he gets older). Off for the next two days, so maybe I will catch everyone then... big hugs to you all :)

Thank Firmy. It is 3:19 AM here in Germany, what time do you have?
Because of the time difference it is usually normal for me to be online at this time, but is it not 'late' for you? Are you OK? If you find it hard to go to sleep, I'll send you a Virtual Lullabye

How have you been doing lately. I hope all is well and that the weather is comfy. It is a little too humid here so I don't go out much. I like dry heat, but here in Germany there is no such thing.

Alexander came by with his mom shortly today and he actually called me OMA.. for the first time. They went to Legoland(sp) on the weekend and he just freaked out. He was so afraid of missing something and ran all the time, fell and scraped his cheek - I know kids will do that, but it just hurts me when I see bruises and scrapes on my poor baby. He let me kiss his cheek and that too was a first, specially for an almost two-year-old.

I know that I rattle on sometimes, but I'm just so excited, as today was surprisingly eventful.

    Hope your's was too.

    Night,night.
