You have no idea. She came up behind me. I felt something following me, so I turned around. She couldn't have been more than a couple feet away. As soon as she knew I saw her, she started barking. That get-off-my-turf-before-i-eat-your-face bark that dogs only give when they mean business.

Maybe I'm weird, but pit bulls don't scare me. Dogs don't really scare me. There are just some that you can TELL it's not safe to approach. Most of the time, all you have to do is stay calm and back away until you're out of their territory. I've never met a dog intent on attack to the point of giving chase.

I think it's the people that don't know how to act around dogs that are afraid of them. I've seen people try to pet a strange dog without warning it. I've seen people come up behind a dog and start petting it. I've sen people ignore barking and laid back ears. I've seen some really stupid people.

You ALWAYS let an animal sniff you before petting it, and make sure they're OK with it first. My neighbor's dogs know me and love me. They're both huge sweethearts that I see pretty much every day, usually twice. I stop to pet them every time I see them. I STILL let them sniff my hand before trying to pet them.

Unless you've lived with an animal for awhile, you just can't KNOW how they'll react on any given day. Maybe they're cranky. Maybe someone was teasing them. Maybe they have excess energy they haven't been able to burn off. Until you know an animal's every moods, you don't know them well enough to approach them without warning. Even if you've known an animal it's entire life, you still need to respect it's moods.

And I turned this into a rant.

    Hey kids, what's up?

I'm feeling a bit down today. I could really use some cheering up.

No, there's nothing specific wrong, actually, everything is great, but for some reason I'm in a slump.

Anyone have a joke, a funny picture, medication? ;)

I hear you! I love the breed. I have two, well one and a half. The oldest Max lives with my parents which is literally across the street.

He kind of wanders back and forth, and seeing as he is 10, where ever he flops down is where he stays.

He was my first rescue I got him when I was 16, and I had no clue about the breed, it was a learning experience for both of us. Now I can't see myself owning any other breed. Especially because of the bad rap they have.

    Here's a joke for you:

    Glad to be drunk
A completely inebriated man was stumbling down the street with one foot on the curb and one foot in the gutter. A cop pulled up and said, "I've got to take you in, pal. You're obviously drunk."

Our wasted friend asked, "Officer, are ya absolutely sure I'm drunk?"

"Yeah, buddy, I'm sure," said the copper. "Let's go."

Breathing a sigh of relief, the wino said, "Thank goodness, I thought I was crippled."

    She's beautiful. :)

I don't know why, but for some reason the name Sophie is the only thing I can think of when I look at her.

Congrats Bella. How old is she?

She is 4. I am only fostering her for the time being. Her and Lady seem to get along wonderfully. Fingers crossed. She has been at the shelter for a while now, and she was adopted but she had an obedience mandatory clause, and she was not supposed to be living in an department and we also specified that she did not like cats. Well 2 weeks later she was returned, the new owner said that she barks at the cats and the people down stairs were complaining, and the land lord said she had to go or they did.

The worst part was, they had people lie for them, telling us they lived in a house.

Awwww! They are just too cute. I wish I could take one. I've actually been dreaming about Alty-cat. It's getting a bit freaky.

R even said he'd love her. He actually loves cats, we all do, they just make R and the kids sick as dogs. Ha, ha, dogs. Get it? ;)

    I lost my funny. :(

Why do some people do anything to get what they want?

There are restrictions for a reason.

Jasper wasn't recommend for a family with kids or another dog and Jared was 3, I was pregnant with Sydney and Indy was at home waiting. The only reason he got to come home with us was because the shelter people know me, know that he'd be in good hands and that at the age of 4 months, with the proper family, he could thrive, and he did, still is.

Too many people don't know what they're doing though. There's a lady that always comes up to me when I bring Chewy to the school to pick up the kids. She wants a beagle so badly because of Chewy. I asked her about her experience with dogs. She doesn't have any. This would be her first dog.

Beagles are great, if you can get through the first year and if you keep them busy. They need to work, they need to use their skills. If they don't, you get mass destruction and a very unhappy dog.

Right now there are 3 beagles in our shelter. :(

Have we not met M? I'd flirt with you on your wedding day. Heck, I'd flirt with you on your honeymoon, if you'd let me come along. ;)

Really, I lost my funny. :(
