Not yet! It's only 10:30am here. ;)

Evenin all :)
Yes, you blink, you miss a lot :)
Morning all... 11:40 AM here.
Bear, like I was saying to Black yesterday... you live in the 'future'... can you give me some lottery numbers... share:75% me 25% you?
Bear, I can do better then that. I'll give you 40%. :)
Stringer, we really should be asking M, he's already living in tomorrow world. ;)
Minkieeee? Coat? Fur? A fur that costs millions?
I've been wearing R's old winter jacket, because it's warm and mine is worn out.
I also need boots.
I need the money more Stringy.
Bear, 41%, that's my final offer. ;)
Hmmmm how about 85 /10 in my favour :)
Let's be realistic here... I can't get that new coat with only 10% Bear! She has a long one, she 'needs' a jacket one now...
10% of what? If its 10% of a million should be more than enough for a jacket :)
Happier. ;)
Okay, it's a deal.
Let me play the numbers. Canada doesn't charge tax on lotto winnings. :)
Well they do here... tax it A LOT!! Look, this was my idea after all... ok, 50/50 Bear and Stringer...:D:D;)
But what about alty, she's going to be up in canada freezing her arse off, no money to keep her warm :(
I am sorry Alty. I would give you fair amount. Can I come up there and stay with you for awhile? Just until I win the lottery since they don't tax it there. If you win a million dollars here you will be lucky to bring home $600,000.
My manager got fired today. I kind of feel bad for her, she was a nice lady, but I guess she didn't do her job well. =/ But on the bright side, The new manager seems like he's pretty cool.
No one's going to be doing my job. The entire clinic is shutting down as of December 16. :(
It was nice while it lasted.
On the bright note, there is a full time position opening in the clinic, my manager hinted that I should apply. The bad news, it's not available until April.
Sigh.
I'm thinking about it. Seriously thinking about it. The thing is, I need a job now. I can't wait until April and I don't want to apply to other positions if there's a chance that I can't commit to stay with them for the long haul.
Decisions, decisions. Where's Stringer? I need his input.
I personally think you should apply to them, for the April position.
Then try to find a job now that you know is short contract or not long term that will just help you along until then.
Do not burn any bridges. Apply for the one in April. Try to find one now, for the mean time. Your not obligated to be in any job long term.
As long as you know your going to another job or once you know for sure then you can decide then.
True Joe.
I guess I'll apply. It's a good position, the pay is good and it's permanent, unlike this last one.
Also, I'd be working in the same clinic and I know a lot of people there already. They're great people. I'm going to miss them. :(
I think in your heart you have already know what you are going to do and what is for the best.
(;
True.
But what if I apply and I don't get it? I know that a few of the other temps are going to apply for the same position. If I don't get it I'll be heartbroken.
I know, I know, can't win if you don't try. But, if you don't try then you can't lose. Right? ;)
It is better to lose trying then to lose from not trying at all.
If you do not try at all, then you have no chance at all to be able to get that position.
Overthinking, I do the same for everything but will not get you any further ahead.
Take the chance. What do you have to lose right now, nothing.
Wise words.
Okay, okay, I'll do it.
After all, I don't want to be whipped, or spanked. Or do I? ;)
Crap! Wrong thread! :(
Gee not sure what thread that is... I am banned from those kind of threads lol.
Okay well I honestly feel and think that everybody thinks you should go for it. Stringer,? What do you think...
I know you asked for Stringers help but I could not help but jump in Alty, Hope it helped. Best of luck...
EDIT: Now if I could only listen to those wise words myself. Also would like to say goodnight. 1230 bedtime. Have a good weekend Alty.
Joe Joe
Night Joe.
I only asked for Stringer because he was a huge help when I was applying for this job. He really gave me the push I needed and the confidence that I could get it.
He's great for my ego. :)
Good night Joe. I'm waiting up for hubby. He should be home in 1/2 hour or so. I need some quality time. If you know what I mean. ;)
People say 'why worry?' I say, when I worry I think about the situation or problem a lot and thinking provides 'juice' for answers. Many times I will purposely think about the problem just before I go to sleep, funny how my mind will sort through things better when I sleep and in the morning I usually have a few solution possibilities and occasionally an answer.
Everything that Joe said, I agree with him, you know that I would, he's a pretty bright guy.
If you want this job or at this point a job, cover all your bases Alty. Send out applications and resumes' to all the jobs that you would like to have. Play the numbers game, saturate the job market. Especially now since more people are looking for jobs. As I said before, any position that appeals to you follow up with phone calls, letters, etc. Go after it the same way that a salesperson would trying to sell something. After all, in this sense you are a commodity and you want to sell your skills to the 'buyer.'
If you 'connect' with one of them you can hopefully build a quick rapport and with everything else being equal this will definitely advance your cause.
Also, when I talk with new salespeople in my company one of the things I tell them is 'talk to everyone;' neighbors, friends, friends of friends, the milkman, etc. Their response is 'why, the milkman doesn't own a building that we can clean?' My response; 'sure, I know, however who does he know that may?' 'Cover all your bases.'
And you want to do everything possible to make your application/resume' stand out. Nothing does this better than having someone you know or will get to know that works there already... great reference.
You have recently been through the interview process and you did just grand and got the job. Now take that confidence to getting a new one. Confidence comes shinning through like a bright light, companies like that.
'He who hesitates... loses.' Work at getting a job just like a job.
Research all opportunities.
Follow up with a formal resume.
(A lot of people think that resumes' are just for high paying jobs, not so and a good resume will relate that you are professional and care enough to take the time to do this the right way.)
Talk to anyone and everyone. Because everyone knows someone who knows someone else.
(Waiting to have someone come to you because 'they know that I need a job' is something that baffles me.)
And finally, getting a job now and then having another call you later for one... well isn't having choices nice? Should that occur, listen to them, explore it thoroughly, it may be the job that you wanted all the while.
But maybe not, maybe the one that you have now turned out to be the one that really 'works' for you... but you will have that choice and will be confident because you are already working.
Spend the time and work this just like a job and your efforts should produce some good results.
And most people will not do this. Yes, they will put in applications, they may talk to a few people but not to the efforts that we are talking about here...
'Go for it!' -Joe
Let me tell you about a job. I had just gotten laid off from the paper I was working at. I ran into an old high school buddy that I hadn't seen for a decade. His brother had just gotten himself fired from the local Orkin office. I applied, but they kept asking about experience and all I had was killing fleas in our kennels, so I didn't think I'd get past the first interview. By the time I got home they wanted to know when I could start (this was long before cell phones) and now it's twenty years later, I have a degree, a master's certificate, and half a company.
All of that is to re-emphasize Stringer's suggestion that you talk to EVERYBODY
