when I hit the enter, backspace,or spacebar my keyboard types random things
All keys type fine. Until I hit the spacebar and it types random letters & characters. The backspace key does the same or takes me out of where I am working. This happened before and then just fixed itself. In the meantime very frustrating. I have run scans to find nothing. Any ideas?

I have seen this happen periodically under almost every version of Windows. I presume you have tried cold booting your system (shutdown, power down, then boot)? You could have some applications that are interfering with each others keyboard control.

Some times it can be the result of a virus, the only way to be certain it is by running several different anti-virus programs and having them all give you a clean bill of health. I would recommend the free version of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (www.malwarebytes.org). Another one to look at is LavaSoft Anti-Virus Anti-Spyware (www.lavasoft.com) also run the free version. When your systems is clean, reboot it and run each full scan one more time. After you are done, deactivate or remove these, you do not want to have multiple anti-virus product running on your system at the same time.

Between the two of these anti-virus programs, regardless of whether you have a virus, they will do all kinds of clean up that will improve the stability of your system.

There is a slight possibility that there is a keyboard problem, try borrowing a USB keyboard and use it for a while (may be a week). If the alternate keyboard works and the original keyboard continues to have the problem, then you could have a keyboard issue. Some times this can be resolved by taking a can of compressed air (available in the computer dept of almost all stores) and blast out / clean the keyboard. If you determine that it is clearly the keyboard, just buy a new one, they are not that expensive. On the other hand, if we are dealing with a laptop, you would probably need to take it in for repair. Replacing laptop keyboards is tricky.
