Thanks guys! They said that I did really well and they wanted to meet for the 2nd and final time. I will meet with other staffers including the head of the organization.
Fingers and toes are crossed!
The second interview went well. I met with the policy team and then the president separately. The policy team asked about my background and they were very impressed with all of my answers. They seemed friendly and engaged. Although it was a bit stiff at first but that quickly changed. The complimented me etc. They were more appreciative of my last question which was about their expectations for the new person and what advice they would give me to be successful in that position, if hired. They said they were pleased to meet me etc and thanked me for coming in. My last interview was with the president. The interview with her was more of a conversation than an interview. She had a few questions but it went well. After the interview, she told me that there were a lot of candidates in the start and they narrowed it down to a slect few and said it was a tough market and said that the staff was impressed with me etc. She also noted that the staff told her that I did extensive homework on the organization. Later, the president took me to the HR person and asked her if she had all of my materials etc and the HR person escorted me out and said I was the 1st to interview this week and that they want to end the process quickly. She said that they make a decision early next week.
Thanks for reporting back to us. It sounds positive. My fingers and toes are still crossed.
Here is an update from them since the 2nd interview.
Hi Jake,
I want to update you on the position. We, are currently contacting your references, which is taking a little longer than we anticipated. This, along with our usual operations, has slightly delayed the decision process. However we are still hoping to wrap things up as soon as possible.
Feel free to contact me with any questions at all, and thank you for your patience.
Best,
Alex
Good grief! I hope I live long enough to see the end of this!
LOL mee too
But it's a VERY good sign. One, that they are checking your references. I would check with the people you gave them to see if there is any hold up. Two, that they are informing you of the delay. They would not do that if they weren't highly interested in you and wanted you to know they were still interested in case you were looking at other opportunities.
Yeah, what ScottGem said. My crossed fingers and toes are aching but still crossed.
So, based on that do you think I'm likely to get the position?
I broke open a fortune cookie and it says "The outlook is very positive" ;)
I was offered the job today!!
I think we deserve to know what it IS.
