How do u/I connect a dvd recorder plus a vcr and a satellite receiver all together?
Can some one tell me how do u/I connect a DVD recorder plus a VCR and a satellite receiver all together? I also picked up an r f modulator and an s-video cable plus another set of cables one 3prong audio/video thingee and one extra single prong cable for video in/out . So how do I hook all this up so it can work like it is hooked-up just with the vcr and TV and satellite? Or is this possible. Confused :(

So currently you have the vcr and satellite receiver connected? Now you want to add a dvd recorder?

In your original setup, the VCR sits between the satellite receiver and TV, correct?

You can connect the vcr and satellite receiver to the dvd recorder, then the dvd recorder to the TV.

Basically your grouping the vcr and satellite as 1 source, and the dvd recorder now becomes the vcr, so in this setup, the DVD recorder is sitting in between your a/v source and the TV.

Many Satellite receivers have 2 sets of outputs(Audio and Video), Have one set go to DVR
And 2nd set to VCR.(Did You want caability to record to DVR and/or VCR.)Maybe VCR only for Playback. If TV has 2 A/V inputs, Have one from DVR and one from VCR.
Don't know if you want to put VCR tapes to Disc.( VCR out to DVR in) If TV only has
F fitting(Coax), you may need modulator for DVR to change A/V signals to a channel Number 3 or 4. they are about$15.00. Programmable can be $75 or more.

OK I have all new equipment.. all with hdmi inputs and/or outputs.my dvd recorder and my blu-ray have only 1 output( no inputs)... I also have direct TV so my satellite receiver which also has hdmi capability.I also have a sony a/v receiver with 4 inputs.. so I took my blu-ray and my dvd recorder and my satellite receiver and hooked them all up to my a/v receiver then took that receiver over to the TV.. simple right?. now my question is.what do I need to do at this point to be able to record TV shows on my recorder?. I mean I need some sort of input going back to it don't I?. thanks

Your Blu Ray or DVD needs some type of inputs, match up with same type connection from an output.
