Bryant model 563G heat exchange on furnace recalls
I have a Bryant Heating System installed in 2008. Recently, the heat exchanger malfunctioned and was completely rusted causing Carbon Monoxide throughout our house. My husband and I were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning.

We understand there was a recall on this model. Was there a recall on this heating unit or any parts of it?

    Please advise.

I could not find any recalls on that model but that does not mean there are none. I suggest you contact the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission at one of these numbers:
Furnace Recall Hotline 877-347-6456 or CPSC Consumjer Hotline 800-638-2772.

Rust is usually caused by installation in a very damp environment or a condensate leak which should be detected during routine maintenance. Rust is a big problem in my area when furnaces are installed in unconditioned crawl spaces or in cold attics.
