    Installing New Condenser Fan Motor
My Exterior condenser fan motor just went out. It is a 17 yr old York. The motor is a 1/4 HP, 208-230V 1.4Amp. I have looked around and an exact match cannot be found. The folks at the supply store have a 1/4 HP motor of the same voltage but 1.5 amps. They told me the amperage difference was insignificant as long as I had the correct capacitor. Is this correct? And there is some question as to whether it is an 825 RPM or 1075, does this make a big difference?

That close in amps shouldn`t make a difference yes change with a new capictor,, but the 825 or 1075 rpm does make a big difference, you need to replace with same or very near the same rpm and make sure they turn in the same direction

Agree with wmproop. Make sure of the RPM it will make a huge difference and that difference will not be a good one.

Post model number of the outside unit and all info off old motor. I will check to see if I can find what it was originally. BTW the direction of rotation is also VERY important.
