My heater is set at 72 but the house is 58. My heater turns on for about 1 - 2 minutes and shuts off for 1 -2 minutes. This process is repeated until the desired temperature is reached. What could possibly be wrong?

My heater,, doesn`t give much to work with... do you know if its gas electric or oil?

If its gas,, could be thermostat or flame senser,

If its electric could be thermostat or sequenser,

If its oil could be it needs a good tuneup,or its could be the themostat
