    A/C Capacitor
I would like to know what would cause the capacitor to burn up on my A/C unit?

Actually run and start capacitors do go bad. They are only good for so many starts and stops of the unit. There is no industry standard for how long they will last. If you replace the capacitor and the unit works you are OK.

I would also like to mention that some capacitors are better made than others. Mant times manufactures will use the cheapest (cost effective brand) for there units when new to save cost. GE capacitors are a lower cost brand for example.
