Did you get rid of the third wire or did you hook it back up?
Don't have to go to the basement, furnace unit is off the living room.
Disconnected the 4th wire, still have 3 connected to the panel.
At the control board you should have 2 wires on yellow, 1 on c, 1 on g and 1 on w, 1 on r
I have a red and white on C, a white on W, a red on R and a green on G. None on Yellow.
Blue from the t-stat should be on y and the red from the outdoor unit.
What should be on C.
So the t-stat should be
r- red
y-blue
g-green
w-white
The control board should be
r-red to t-stat
y- blue from t-stat and red from outside
g- green from t-stat
w-white from stat
c- white from outdoor
OK, got them set up that way.
Give it a try
Returned power to unit, blower motor came on at high speed. Thermostat is set to OFF and AUTO.
Switched breaker to AC unit on and it is running. With the furnace unit shut down.
Who ever was there last really left you in a wiring mess. Turn the ac breaker on and see if we got that part fixed.
Silly question, but are you sure you don't Have the 2 reds backwards?
AC unit is still running without being requested to run.
If all is as it seems, then the two reds are connected correctly. But then again, it does seem like a wiring nightmare... lol. I have the AC and blower going to see if when the stat reaches set temp it cycles off. Crossing my fingers.
Well at this point, I would say you will either have to call a hvac tech to come check out the wiring, or get yourself a volt and ohm tester and we can go from there.
I may have to just have a hvac tech come out and check it out. I don't want to short anything out and end up with a bigger problem. Got to love these rehabs. I really appreciate all your help, hopefully it will make things less confusing for the hvac guy.
Please let me know what you find out after he is done.
Hello sir! Your problem is in the outside a/c unit. "relay coil" its stuck in a/c run mode. That is why every time you turn on the heat or ac from the thermostat it always running.( and sometimes during the winter months and even when the furnace isn't on that outside ac unit will come on ) i see that you have shut the ac off at the breaker box. You need to go out outside to the ac unit and go inside the back case remove the cover and change the relay coil. You can do it yourself or have a qualified technician do it for you. But rest assured that is your problem . You can call me at 313 978-3717 my name is dwayne alexander and my email is [email protected].
