OK, seems I've figured this thing out. The screws were so small they didn't look like screws even with the magnifying glass and the wires weren't going in the side... but that's what it was!

As for the wiring, what I found was that the RH/RC power for respective transformers on the old therm (prev jumped for use with only one transformer) is now simply the red power wire to Totaline's R. Don't seem to need the blue common to power the receiver, so I'm hoping it handles that itself.

It's running and I'm not even going to test the cooling system now :)

I'm glad yougot it figured out. I'm only on-line when I have time, I still do HVAC work during the day and often at night when weather is bad.

The Lux Pro sells at retail houses and at Places like Home Depot for around $70 to $80. And I do not understand what you were talking about them charging you $99 for a thermostat that you didn't buy from them. If I were you I would turn them in to the better business bureau.

Actually, the tech wasn't sure what the charges were for -- the office said it was $60 for the service call and $99 for the diagnostic. He had told me that the $99 would get deducted if I bought the thermostat. The office later told me that, no, the $60 would be deducted. Makes me feel like I'm paying for a part that I chose not to get. And if they install the different one that I buy -- $129 more.

I'm going to check into this $500 therm thing and see what the rest of the world does around here :) They have very questionable practices -- like sending a young kid over here to do all my plumbing when he wasn't a plumber, they don't have a license in the township, and no permit was taken out. No permit was taken out for the hvac system either. They also sched your time and don't even bother to call when they don't show up. Had to chase them down for the $700 they were given to do that plumbing that wasn't done due to the non-plumber issue. I'm sure I don't even remember what dealing with them was like. The system is only 3yo and I went for a week w/o heat.

And it's just such a contrast to all that award-winning service and bad-guy precautions they advertise on their website :)

I'll answer it like this. The very best Rheem 100,000 BTU furnace and 13 seer cased evaporator coil I would sell for about 3900 dollars with an extended 10 year part and labor warranty

I read this with interest. Can you believe my HVAC company wanted $900 for a new thermostat. That was 3 years in. I did show him the door, got a remote therm, and hooked up those 5 wires myself. I also wonder just how much I was scalped for the furnace. A neighbor recommended the company, Geiger, so I didn't get multiple estimates. I will never do that again!

So, in 2003, any idea about how much for a Goodman 92, Honeywell Envirocare air cleaner, and a through the wall air conditioner to be installed?
