What sounds like a simple question is not actually so simple.

You need to obtain a exploded combustion chamber diagram for the specific brand and model of boiler.

This diagram will show exactly where the placement of the wet pack belongs along with the Kaowool blanket (usually installed at the bottom and up the side walls).

The install of these items has to be pretty accurate especially if you have a gun burner since the wet pack to the rear of the unit is in the flame target area and poorly installed can cause problems when you do the final tune (using a digital combustion meter) for efficiency sake and also to prevent damage to all the new reline materials.

Much of the install of this material also depends upon weather you have a wet base or dry base boiler and that is something only you will know by looking at it.

This is the type of work you never send a rookie out to do since it takes quite a few jobs to really get the hang of doing a reline properly. The rule at my old shop was you had to be a helper on at least 12 reline jobs before I would cut you loose on your own so as you can see experience counts.

I highly suggest you visit your boiler manufactures site to see if you can obtain the combustion chamber diagram as mentioned above. Then visit the manufactures site of the materials you are using for the reline/wet pack install for there specific requirements.

Sometimes your unit will require a specific combustion chamber only available from the factory and if that is the case trying to make a Lynn wet pack work can be very difficult. Also pay special attention to the use of the 4 ounce bottle of water glass if included in your wet pack kit.

Sorry but that is about all I have on this subject since with so many different boilers available along with the many styles of combustion chambers for those boilers it is impossible to give you step by step directions since each one will be different. The repair of combustion chambers is usually left to a professional with many years experience and that person can size up the work to be performed only after a actual visit to your home to see what you have to start with and then accessing the combustion chamber diagram from the manufacturer if necessary. Good luck with your project.
