Cloned hard drive (free/used space on Source & Target drives
Cloned hard drive: After successful cloning (using Acronis software), shouldn't my primary (Source) disk & my Cloned (Target) disk both have the same free and unused space? They are both the same size drives (219 GB). In My Computer, my Primary drive (C) has 74.6 used (144 free) space whereas my Cloned drive (D) has 42.8 used (176 free) space? The software completed normally & said cloning was successful. I checked the space right after cloning (after I rebooted) before doing anything else.

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate on a HP laptop.

    Thank you.

Yes, immediately after cloning. However, the first time Windows is run again, it may create or delete files so that the two drives are no longer identical, although I'd be suspicious of that big of a difference.

I haven't used the clone feature of Acronis much, but it could also be due to the chosen cluster size. I don't know offhand if Acronis uses a default value or matches the value used on the source drive. Was the target drive completely blank before cloning?

Suggest you send a message to Acronis Support. I've found their support to be excellent.
