How do I dye my hair blonde?
I've just had my hair stripped of its prievious colour and dyed bright orange--huge disarster-- I went back and had it toned down by dying over it, it was OK but I just got back from vacation and the sun and pool have spripped the colour back to a dull urban. I hate it, but I can't afford to change it yet again- (the last effort cost $300) I'm going back in a mouth but I can't stand it atm. I want to dye it blond but I don't know how to get the current colour out, I thought about bleaching it but last time it went orange- but then I had blue black in it- will it be OK this time givern that its had most of the preivious colour stripped resently? I'v read that if it does go orangy after bleaching that you can use a ash based hair dye that it nuetralises the orange? Is this true?

I think your best option is to talk to a hair professional and get there advice. From my experience I would not die yet - I would leave your hair and let the colour grow out and give your hair time to repair.

Dying really does damage your hair and repeated dying is just going to leave your hair very dry, lifeless and ruined.

I would put up with it for now and give your hair time to recover and grow the colour out properly - this is probably the reason the bleach turned your hair orange - bleach is one of the worst products to affect your hair.

I have my hair highlighted - I have the top layer done. I have red hair and by having the top layer done it aloows me to have blonde streaks running through it - it looks great - but I have to wait until it has pretty much grown out and I have lots of new hair before having it rehighlighted. It can takes months or even a year - but it's the only way I keep my hair in a nice condition. I always have a cut at the same time to rid of all the dead & split ends.

It means I have to put up with my natral colour for a while which I do get bored with - but if means keeping my nice shiny health looking hair then it's worth it.

If you really cannot wait talk to a hair professional and get their opinion - they are trained for this and know what's best!!

Use a pre-lightning kit and yes it will turn orange but then put on a dark ash blonde as the ash blondes gets rid of any red tones (ginger), u will then have to put on the ash blonde again then yr hair won't have any hint of orange, then if you wanted to go baby blonde etc choose the blonde you want.

I just had the same experience! I have naturally dark hair and really wanted blonde. I tried it on my own with a lightening kit from a beauty supply store. This did not work and I ended up with light orange! Luckily I was able to get right into a salon this morning. She put a light color over the red to tone it down and now I have to go back in 2 days to finally (hopefuly) get the blonde I want. The lady I went to was very nice and said that she tries to avoid bleaching at all costs because it is so damaging. She also recommended intese conditioning between dyes. I am not really happy about walking around for the next two days as a strawberry blonde but if it will help achieve the color I want without the damage of bleach then I will. Hope this helps!

When you bleach your hair its going to turn out orange/strawberry blonde because you probably had really dark brown or black hair.. bleach will make it three shades lighter.
If you really want blonde hair, you'd bleach it, pick a light color dye to go over it.. Wait a few weeks to a month and bleach it again, it gets lighter IT GETS BLONDE.. you have to be patient and a salon will do the same to your hair if you have dark hair.
I'm mixed, and I bleached under my bangs several times, first time it turned out orangish/strawberry blonde then when I kept dying it my hair turned platinum blonde. But like I said getting blonde is a process it doesn't happen in the same day/ week. I'm in the process right now, but since I'm brown strawberry blonde doesn't look to bad on me plus here in a week I'm putting a medium ash blonde over it so it doesn't look orange or strawberry
OH YEAH & they damaging , all you have to do is get hair stuff to keep up with blonde hair because dying your hair blonde professionally or by yourself will damage your hair, but its up to you to buy upkeep for it. I go to sallys and ask they lady what to get and my hair NEVER breaks off or damages it. & I'm mixed, black & white.
    -hope I helped.
