Been out in the yard eyeing places for toms to go.. :D next year will sure be intresting if I can convince the DH to assist me with my toms until I can come home for summer break from college.. if not I guess I will have to maybe do some toms in pots and ferry them back with me to nova scotia (if it wouldn't stress them out) when I come back for the summer. (I love how college ends in April lol and not July like high school)

Tell DH you'll pay him back triple for the slug sauce, that should do it!
Look for a salt-tolerant variety when you start.

There should be no ill effects with the ferry ride. Check though with the ShipLine they may have to be crated.
(like luggage on an airline, check 'em in and they take it from there)

Worst case... even though it is the same Country, they might not allow Export to the Island :(

It's hard to see, but my DH took my camera on his trip and I was having trouble with his.

K... salt-tolerant because of my proximity to the ocean or because of the ferry ride across salt water itsself? I could always Drive them from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia instead of taking the ferry because DH would be driving up to visit randomly

Didn't follow the advice cause of BB being in a bucket.
After a day an a half, you can see how thirsty he is, not much mind you, maybe a quart.
For next year I'm going to haveta add perlite or those little round things like pearls
To absorb the water, then release it gradually.

Sorry about the concrete, I have had to deal with something like that, but lucky for me just bricks (which was a pain) It took me two years to kill some Poplar roots that went all through my garden. (another story) I'm good now.:)

Yea, I don't know what's up with that. I started by teaching the niece's an nephews how to paint concrete with water, then real painting jobs, I had 'em using hammers, saws, an drills when they were 5.
They were happy, I was happy, an they were proud to really help Unca teve.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I'm 'bout to put BB's toms in a sack with some apples or banana's an tie it snug... if you know what I mean...
My Dad usta' grow pickles in a bottle. Then people would wonder "howdja do dat?"

I was also thinking again 'bout that asexual post and the impatiens... I chopped off 'bout 12" of one of BB's leaders, stuck it in some H2O and I'm just waitin' to see if it roots.

Anyone need maintenance on chainsaws start a thread, I just finished mine.

Growing pickles in a bottle... now how's trhat done..
I can't wait to see if the BB roots in water. I've always wondered that since I know you can do it with flowers and plants. I also know that to replant some kinds of trees all you need to do is take a cutting from the tree and stick the cutting right in the ground. Now I can't see tomatoes doing that but I am pretty sure they might root in water like your trying to get them to do :D

Living in N.S. you've seen ships built in a bottle, haven't you?

Find a slender bottle (like an ol' time soda bottle), and gently place the baby/developing pickle through the mouth of the bottle, into the chamber below. Then just wait until it grows.

• The bottle needs support
• Don't worry if the pickle doesn't go in far enough it'll grow in.
• apparatus needs to be kept shaded/ cool, because of the added heat the container creates.
• Harvest, when it shows a larger diameter than the mouth of the bottle, but not pressing against the sides of the container.
• Novelty can be "pickled" use wax or cork for topper
• Place on mantle, bookshelf, or windowsill, wait for "comments"

In fact K I have three ships in bottles here in the house in storage so they don't get broke so yes I've seen ships in a bottle lol.. WOW I think that is so neat. I'll I'll just have to try :D

Never thought of using tree hormone.. do they have some form of that for veggie cuttings?

I believe the "root hormone" covers a variety of plants... I'll check the bottle an let you know.

Wow... I didn't expect it to be so dangerous either.. though it does not list the inert ingredients which is a bit of a bummer because you never know what they could do to human and animals either.. wow I didn't think it could be used for so many different things either
