Did the man made a promise of some sort to this now dead person whatsoever before having the soup?
    Irrelevant.

OK, you've got me wondering - what "someone else than the man"?

I was thinking of a scenario of something like two lovers... the woman died recently, the albatross soup was her favourite meal (strange tastes :o)... and he took the soup to remember her, before ending his life so that he won't suffer of her death anymore. Or something of the sort

Sometimes asking for clarification is the proper answer.

Depressed probably isn't the best word, and if you mean like someone being depressed for several weeks or even years, then no. But that may be misleading - perhaps find a different way to ask or clarify your thinking here.

Interesting. But no, nothing like that.

If your depression question is along this same scenario, then no.

Is it because of the taste? ;)

OK, still not all that tired, but have to start getting ready for work in like 3 hours, so going to attempt to lie down and catch what would be a nap at this point. Boy, I'm going to feel like carp-ola.

Oh? So... would someone kill himself because of the taste of a food?

    Ok, my next question:
Did the food taste good? (If this can be asked that is)

So, the soup was so awful he killed himself?

It can be asked, but the answer is irrelevant.

Ok, now I'm at a lost... it's just like the scenario of 'Ratatouille' except that the man here killed himself instead of being overjoyed by the flavour...

Did he have enough money to pay for the soup?

Does the soup remind him of the person who died?
