Was there anything else the bartender did to receive the thank you? No.

I'm going to assume no, just to get in more questions. :D You assume right.

Did the man thank the bartender for not shooting him? No.

Did the bartender pull the gun out as part of a joke? As a mistake? As a threat? No.

    To scare the man? Yes.

    Were the police involved? No.

Was the man interested in buying the gun or another gun? No. (But what an interesting idea.)

Was the man dazed and confused? Did the bartender snap the man back to reality by pulling out the gun? No.

Whoopee - I got a Yes. :o Though I think it must be an important yes.

So why does a man ask for a drink and say thank you for being scared? The first thing that comes to mind is he had the hiccups - though a simple boo might have worked. Okay, I'll go with my gut - did he have the hiccups?

    morgaine300 agrees : You got it. :-)

They always seem so obvious once you get them. :p

    Ready for mine now?

    I didn't say it was a brilliant one. :)

Actually, it didn't seem obvious even after I read it. Being interested in buying the gun seems more obvious and I never thought of that. But hey...

    And sure, I'm ready.

Besides, if the guy had been there a few hours and was drunk out of his gourd, then maybe we needed a more drastic solution than a simple boo.

That's my guess and I'm sticking with it.

Okay, here goes. To me this one seems hard - hope it challenges everyone.

The Arm of the Postal Service

One day a man received a parcel in the post. Carefully packed inside was a human arm. He examined it, repacked it and then sent it on to another man. The second man also carefully examined the arm before taking it to the woods and burying it. Why did they do this?

EDIT: Post #297, page 30 contains a summary thus far of the above puzzle, so that anyone new doesn't have to look through all of these posts. (There are, however, other posts and comments strewn through it.)

It was a "chain letter." :D

Er, sorry. I'm about to do dishes - I'll think (more seriously) while I'm doing them and be back in a bit.

Haha. Okay, I'll go make dinner and check back later.

Was the arm flesh? (not a prosthetic)

Did the arm belong to either man?

I had to interrupt my dishes before I forgot everything running through my head:

Did he expect to receive a package?

Did he expect to specifically receive a human body part?

If so, did he expect to specifically receive an arm?

    Was the arm on ice?

Did he know who sent it? (Even if not personally)

Did he personally know the person who sent it?

Was there anything else in the package besides the arm, besides just typical packing materials?

Did he know the (2nd) man he sent it to?

Was he instructed at some point to send it to this other man?

(I just realized we've got this man 1/man 2 confusion again.)

Okay back to making dinner. I'll check in again when I get a moment.

I'll just get confused over who is who. I'm terrible with names.

OK, I'm having issues with being packed on ice being irrelevant. So I'm going to rephrase.

Did the arm have any reason to need to be packed on ice?

Was the arm off a real human (dead or alive)?

Did the first man do anything to the arm, besides examining it?

Did he change anything about the packaging when he resent it, other than new packing materials? (i.e. add or remove something, change something, etc.)

Did any postal employees know what was inside the package?

Did the arm belong to anyone that either of these 2 men knew?

Is the person the arm came from still alive?

Is there anything left in the way of flesh, muscle, etc.

Or, is there nothing left but bone?

Hi again, I got busy sorry. I got rather confused to find questions about arms till I spotted you finished one and started another lol.

Did man 1 expect to receive an arm he would recognize?
    Did he recognize it?

Did man 2 expect to receive the arm from man 1?

Is man 1 expecting any more body parts?
    Is man 2?

Did man 2 send anything to man 1?

Okay I asked my fiancé about this since he's such a mastermind. :) It probably was packed in ice so it wouldn't become a stinky mess - his words, not mine. :o

That's why I post the puzzle again at the tops of new pages. It always feels a little redundant, but you never know when someone will pop in suddenly.

I was thinking more along the lines of preserving it a bit, but that's kind of what I thought. i.e. I was a bit trying to establish if it needed preserved in some way, or was just a skeletin. But yeah, it would get a bit on the stinky side. ;)

And by the way, the person it came from being alive just threw out several of my obviously not-so brilliant ideas.
