What happened at my daughter's mother's house?
I have custody of my 2 year old daughter. Her mother has been to rehab and jail. Now she will ask to have her over night. I allowed it because she's on probation and I want her to have a realationship with her daughter. However, when my 2 year old comes home she wines for me for 3 days. This last time, she did the same thing and potty training went out the window. What is going on at her mother's house that she comes back and acts like that?

I don't know. Presumably the 2 year old knows (and can't tell you) and her mother knows.

What I DO know is that she wouldn't be spending any more time UNSUPERVISED at her mother's house.

The need to protect your child should be more important than wanting her to have a relatonship with her mother.

Go to Court, get an Order requiring supervised visitation IF you feel there is a risk to your daughter at her mother's house.

At this point I don't think you have any way to know 100% what is or is not going on. It could be separation anxiety. It could be a number of things.

Are you willing to take the chance?

Maybe her mother is clean and straight. Maybe her mother's friends are NOT clean and straight.

Frankly - I'm amazed that this would happen more than once and that you would have to ask what to do.

If the mother has visitation by Court Order (and it doesn't sound like it) go BACK to Court and get it changed.

Sorry but we are not mind readers. No way can we tell. So what you need to do is bring your daughter to someone who can try to communicate with her and maybe figure it out.

Until that happens, I would not let the mother have unsupervised visitation.

From what you said, I'm assuming that you have full control over visitation.

    We can't possibly know!
She could want to go back to her mother, or she could be terrified you will send her back.
It's your job to find out! Did the Court allow this? Have you been there for more than a minute? You must do that before you do it again.
