How do I get custody of my Niece?
My Niece is two years old. My sister is an unfit mother. I hate to say it, but she is. She's had CPS called on her about 5 times, cops are always at her place because her and her boyfriend are constantly fighting. Hitting each other. They don't hit the kids. Thank god! She has 4 kids. Two of them live with my parents, and one at his dads, and my niece with her. She was willing to sign over rights to me, but she keeps changing her mind. I have a good job. I'm almost 23. I live on my own. I do everything I can for all the kids as it is. I take my Niece as often as I can. My sister at this time has two guys living with her to help pay her rent. Her place is never clean. The dad of my niece is not in her life. Not on the birth certificate nothing. Is there anyway I could petition this? Would I have to get a lawyer? My sister recently was in a mental institute. She tried to kill herself, again. And she recently called CPS on herself. Or so she says. I have voice messages from her saying she don't want the kids.. I'd just like to see my Niece grow up in a better place. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

To start with there is a sticky at the top of this forum that everyone HAS to be able to see before they post a question like this... its called signing over rights here is the link since you need to read it..

    https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/family...st-116098.html

Going to be ugly... you have to take her to court, prove she's unfit as a parent... and hope he doesn't get them.. because being the father he's likely to.

And I'd like to know where people dream this crap up you can sign way your rights to kids like they are an old car. Because you can't... only a court can do that.
