The baby is both of yours. And can he take the baby away. Depends on your situation. But as a parent to the child he has legal rights too. He can get his name through the courts put on the birth certificate and he can get his name given to the child. So why are you not wanting to do the right thing?

Is the child his? Or is this a current boyfriend?

If you know he is the father then obviously put him on the birth certificate. If you aren't sure then go to court to ask for a DNA test first because that is what he will have to do if you don't. Then when the test comes back positive he will be put on there anyway so save the time and money and do it when the baby is born. The only way he will completely take the child from you is if he can prove you unfit (that's pretty hard to do). He will be ordered to pay support and given a visitation order in court so that is something you will have to deal with. Now of course if he isn't the father then don't put him on there because that is fraud (a punishable crime).
