Does this new fan not have a light on it? If you originally had the fan and light separately operable, this isn't going to work right. Since this installation uses conduit, the old method of grounding was to rely on the mechanical connections of the conduit to provide the ground path. Nowadays, a ground wire is generally required to be installed in the conduit and bonded at every box.

The new fan has a light but is operated differently then the old,
It uses a remote control to operate the light and fan and so requires only a constant power line. The second old power line I closed off as it will no longer be in use.
