    Outlets work but the lights don't
    The lights in my kitchen and the hallway and in the master bathroom don't come on.. I checked the outlets and they all have power with one exception.. the outlet that the microwave is plugged into. I the master bathroom the outlet is working but the light won't come on.. I assume they are all on the same circuiot... What can I check now?

    Check your breakers. It is not uncommon that outlets may be on one circuit and lighting on another. Locate the circuit breaker(s) for the areas where you have no power: Turn them off and then back on. See if that solves your issue.

    May be a longshot, but check any Ground Fault receptacles also, these are located in bathrooms, kitchens.

    They have test and reset buttons on the front.

    Lighting is not usually on GFI devices, but never know.

    If resetting circuit breakers or GFI receptacles does not help, then there is a loose connection somewhere in the circuit, and will need an electrician to come in and troubleshoot.

    I checked the circuit breakers and none of them are tripped... All the outlets work in the kitchen with the exception of the microwave...

    Be sure to turn off each breaker and then turn it on, sometimes they trip and cannot tell.

    Outlets work but lights are out
    I had an electrical problem in my home office last week. The lights, computer etc all went out.I had no power except for the outlet on the opposite wall from where all my equipment was plugged in... I messed with the breakers.. with were not visibly tripped and the power came back on after a day or two. Now the same thing has happened in my kitchen and hallway and master bathroom.. All the outlets have power with the exception of the plug that the microwave is plugged into. But no lights. Once again there are no visibly tripped breakers

    This room to room thing has me woried.. Any ideas?

    Could be a burnt buss/breaker connection.
    Maybe plug an extension cord into a bad outlet, and have a lamp near the panel for an indicator, apply on pressure to each of the breakers to see if lamp comes on, then turn breakers off one at a time to determine which breaker, then remove and check.
    With a Meter, check voltage out of each breaker.
    Breakers can trip but not throw.

    I guess my suggestion of loose connection someplace in the circuitry was not sufficient?

    I wasn't able to find anything loose... And I also neglected to mention the problem with the home office when I posted yesterday.. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.. I was hoping that telling everyone one about the room to room thing would provide additional info

    No offense here, do not start another post for the same problem.

    Something must be loose as the circuit is not operating properly, as the circuit is open.

    Power leaves the circuit breaker via two conductors, and is not getting to all devices. Could be anywhere in the circuit.
