Hello my name is Jay, I hv a blue nose pitbull 6weeks old, already potty trained, when can I bathe him, 1st shots on 21

You can bathe him now.. but treat him like a new born baby.. Use baby shampoo (I like aveeno baby) in warm water. Make sure he is 100% dry before he goes outside... A lot of times, I just old the babies in a warm blanket or towel until they are dry..

I feed my pup, black gold puppy food, and also give him K9 gold it's a powder milk for pups, has 28% protein and food 32%, am I doing too much?

Not too familure with the black gold name brand.. However, at 6wks, he doesn't need any more puppy milk.

That is a bit too much protein in the diet. Just stick to the puppy food for now.

Pro plan is a great food for puppies.

I put cooked ground beef in with his keebles, and 2 aweek egg whites cooked.

I know you want to feed him the best... But with puppies, organic or home made foods don't really mix well with their tender tummies. I would suggest to just feed the puppy food and wait until later to start feeding things like that.

Ear cropping is a bad idea. Many nerve endings are removed. It's painful, and not necessary, other than aesthetics.

I would not recommend ear cropping. He is the way he's supposed to be, changing his body parts to achieve a certain look is not a good choice in my opinion.

I'm not sure how to do it using the skin that you're on. There should be instructions somewhere on this site. Let me see if I can find them. :)

Agree, Agree, and agree once more. Some years back I assisted with more than a few ear crops where I work. Since then, Thank God, the ear cropping scissors have been retired. I think natural ears are much nicer and the puppy avoids the pain of the procedure and the weeks of untaping and retaping until they are healed and standing properly.

BlackGold dog foods seems to be adequate. I'm not familure with the food as far as how well it produces dogs..

With puppy foods, that I have learned, is you don't want to start them out on the super high quality foods. For some reason their little tummies just can't handle all the nutrition. The food you are feeding him is just fine. Try not to get into the habit of giving him human foods.. human foods are very fattening and you will get a fat dog very quickly.

Once he is a year old and you are ready to switch to an adult food.. there are lots of brand out there that are very healthy, organic/holistic and have very few fillers.

As far as the ear cropping.. I know it would look pretty cool to have the "devil dog" look.. but then people are less likely to want to pet your dog. Leave him as is and give this breed a good name :)

Don't add any extras to the food unless you have a good reason too. Just puppy food is enough. Start messing around with extra vitamins and you can distort the growing process.

Vitamins are made for dogs with deficiencies or breeds that require extra as they grow.

Why do you want to give the vitamins? As said, if your dog is on a commercial dog food it is already balanced with all the vitamins it needs.
If you are looking to 'bulk' your dog up vitamins won't help, it's all genetics, your dogs will either be big, or it won't, the parents and grandparents genes determine that.

Hard exercise to build up muscle shouldn't begin until after 12 months of age to avoid joint and bone damage. Before then light walks are good though.

Thank you much for the info, and I always keep in mind that animals get stressed like humans, and I would never push my pups to that extent dogs can and want to do more, I've worked with larger animals for yrs.

I have a red nose pit and wanted to put good muscle weight on her. At 6 months I fed her Nutura Pet Evo red meat. It is not cheap, but I'm happy I did it. I fed her this diet for 6 months than changed to their maintenance diet, Innova.

For now, no vitamins, no supplements... Nothing. Nothing should ever be added to a baby puppies diet. The puppy foods are complete no matter what brand. If you do add something, it should be on veterinary order. Just leave his diet alone and let him grow.

Just buy pro plan puppy. It's a good food. Or stay with the food you have. It appears to be a good food

You are dwelling way too much on what you are feeding. Puppies just need a balanced diet. All dog foods are balanced. The ingredience differ in quality and amount you should feed

Relax. You won't do wrong with any of the foods you choose

Hello I hv a 10 week, and 9week old pitbulls, they are eating a very good puppy food, and they do well on it I give them plane yogurt as a treat, and veggies I would like to include a raw diet 2 or 3 days aweek, putting the chicken in boiling water do flush chrmicals, do you hv any 1st timers advice?

I thought you had decided not to change their food. Why are you feeding raw 2 or 3 days a week?

I didn't change their food, I just wanted to start doing raw a few days, and still feed kibbles.

You are planning to change their food from all kibble to sometimes kibble and sometimes raw.

Does your Vet recommend this?

Have you researched feeding raw? It's not just about boiling chicken and feeding it to them.

Then if you sell the puppies the new owner (if they don't want to feed raw) has to switch the diet back again.

I was going to post about feeding raw but if you've already done your research there's no need.

Yes, by all means if you think your Vet is putting "them" in an unsafe situation do your own research.

Where did you read about boiling chicken to remove chemicals? I can't find a site that isn't privately sponsored.
