Rinky, you are a good hearted person.

Is this an isolated incident or is he breeding on a regular basis? Is he breeding staffies and selling them for fighting? You might want to call the ASPCA and talk to them about the whole situation and tell them as much as you know. Ask them what the legal requirements are in your area regarding breeding and kennels. Some townships require a person to have a license if they breed more than twice a year. Some require a kennel license if a person has more than 4 dogs. If this is just a one time thing for him, I don't know if there is anything that the ASPCA can do about it. But, if you can give them as much information as you know about the guy, they might be able to find a legal reason to pay him a visit.

If nothing comes out of all this, you should warn him that if he sells these puppies and doesn't disclose that they may be a result of a brother/sister breeding, he could get get sued by a buyer later on down the road if there if a problem develops.

I commend you on all of your efforts. I wish there were more caring people like you in this world.

His dogs are staffie crosses which I think he is going 2 try and sell as purebreed staffies this is the first litter as the female is very young I think this is only her second season but I have told him 2 get one of them neutered but he's not sure he wants 2 do this I have threatened 2 get contraceptive pills for the female and feed them to her every time I see her but as my dogs are male I'm not sure how often she can get pregnant if it is only when she is in season. My staff is a very high pedigree which I wanted 2 breed from and he has champions in his bloodline but now he is epileptic it would be unfair 2 take the risk of passing it on to the puppies I've told him this hoping he will take action but 2 no avail so now I will just have 2 hope all is OK and that he will do the decent thing and prevent it happening again

Please don't try to give her contraception pills. I know you are saying this out of frustration. But, as an FYI, don't ever give pets drugs meant for humans unless the vet has told you it is okay.

I guess the best we can hope for is after she has the puppies, you pound away at him to get the female spayed and the male neutered. Keep on his back about this. If he values your friendship, hopefully he will cave in.

Thanks for all the hard work you are doing with this. These dogs need people like us to intervene and protect them from other humans.

Females come into season about every 6 months going a little longer if they have a litter. They can only be impregnated 9-14 days after the discharge starts. The will not accept a male at any other time. It is amazing how many people are keeping an intact female ,likely for breeding, and are asking very basic questions suggesting they haven't done any research.

Unfortunately may other people are not so careful. Time after time I have told people to spay/neuter a dog with a behavior problem, and they insist they are going to breed it.

One sure way to make sure you dog never passes on his defect is to neuter him.

The facts are... the same rule applies to all, you do NOT reproduce with siblings. It didn't work for the royal family and it will not work today.

Answer to question: It is not right and the puppies will most likely be born with defects weather it be mental or physical, there will be some there, that is for certain.

I do agree that siblings should not be mated for various reasons, as I have outlined on this board, but I do not agree with your reasoning and your response here. Just because you think you are right, does not make it so. Rinky seemed to appreciate the responses to her post. If there are rules on this web site that state we are not allowed to enter into a lengthy dialogue on an issue that is important to one or more of us, I would appreciate your pointing them out to me. Frankly, I am completely baffled by your anger? Sarcasm? (not sure what) here. In addition, before you trash the royal family, you need to check your facts. We attempt to answer questions with fact here, not imaginary meanderings. There have never been any cases of sibling marriage in the royal family, much less a defective child resulting from such a marriage.
