My sheltie can't eat beef or fish-based foods... they have terrible consequences. My nutritionist's two dogs are allergic to all proteins except rabbit and duck. The only thing I can suggest is trying a few things to see what your dog will tolerate. I found through trial and error that mine can only eat foods with chicken and turkey as their base proteins. It may also be a grain allergy - many dogs are allergic to corn and/or wheat. Soy can also be an issue. There are some companies that make specific foods for dogs with food allergies.

In terms of dry, I feed Blue Buffalo. Canned - I feed Merrick.
