The original question asked for things that people have tried and gotten results from. Sometimes that comes from experience and not expertise. I have given the answers to the question from experience of what has worked for me in the past. I was trying to be helpful but obviously I have not been. I am unsubscribing from this thread since I am not able to give any further advice. I am sorry for taking up so much valuable space with my posts. I hope all goes well for you jenna. I know how spiteful some animals can be. I will leave with on last suggestion. Try half vinagar and half water for the smell the bleach works for us being able to not smell it but something in the ph of the vinagar keeps the dogs and other animals. Again, I hope you can find some healthy medium with your little rat terror... lol..

Well update, I asked the vet to prescribe some meds for him. I brought it up to him yesterday and I guess he researched it to make sure it was right. He looked up some information that other vets have experienced and I asked him if there would affect his health conditions. He said we could try it. So I think I'm going to do that in combination with crating. Then move on to the diaper thing like Myth mentioned, I've thought about that for a long time. The main thing is actually getting it ON him. We'll see how it goes though.

Sorry to everyone who put an input if I came across harsh. It was just frustrating that it kind of seemed like everyone was judging me in the wrong way when they don't know the complete situation. Of course I can't expect people to know everything from a few paragraphs. Myth- I had no problem with your comments at all. Your first one you actually offered a solution! :) It's been a long road with this little terror and we've had him for 11 years. Wish I knew about all this when I was 11 years old maybe he wouldn't be this way now lol.

I keep an update to say how things go.

I have a 7 month old Boston Terrier who does the same thing. I have started putting her in time out (which is a travel pet carrier) for 5 minutes each time I catch her, before I put her in time out I rub her nose in it and say "bad bad dog". This has greatly reduced how much she pees spitefully, although not completely eliminated it.

First of all this is an old thread. If you have a question, start your own. You'll get more responses.

Secondly, dogs do not pee out of spite. They do not understand human emotion, which is what that is.

Third, never EVER rub your dogs nose in its own urine. That is such a wives tale! The dog learn nothing from it. In fact, that is boarderline abuse. Would you rub your child's nose in its diaper during potty training? No.. Same concept. 7 months old is still a baby. Patience and a steady routine is key to house training.

Don't ever use a crate as "time out". You want a crate to be a postitive experience, not a negative one. Dogs are not kids. They do not understand "time out", they do not understand rubbing the nose in urine, and they definitely do not understand why you're being so mean to her.

Your training methods are less then satisfactory and the house training method has improved a lot since the "rub the dogs nose in the urine to teach it not to pee". There are a lot more effective methods that are proven to work. Please seek an obedience trainer. They can help you.

As for the "spiteful" peeing, maybe she has a urinary infection and can't help but pee more often. Maybe she has a weak bladder. You really should figure out why she pees "spitefully" instead of assume she is being a bad girl. She may not be able to help herself.
