Mi oldest chihuahua looks to skinny. When she's laying down and rolls in a ball to sleep like any other dog, you can see every bone in her spine popping up. I see her eat here and there, but it's hard to keep track of how much she actually eats, because I have three chihuahuas. She is very active and plays a lot. Her ribs don't really show, and the vet says she's fine, but all of our chihuahua owner friends tell us she's too skinny. Please help

Who am I to disagree with your vet? Chances are your friends Chihuahuas will die at a younger age because they are too fat. Chihuahuas are one of the breeds that frequently have what should be a long life shortened by being over weight. It does sound like she is on the lean end of healthy. If your vet has checked for worms and so forth, and is happy with her, enjoy the extra years with her because she does keep herself lean. Do watch to make sure the younger ones are letting her eat as much as she wants.

My great niece also has a small 'Taco Bell chalupa' and he's tiny, skinny but very healthy and is fed Iams or Eukanuba. Better to be a little thin and fit than obese as your dog will age and die a lot more quick. Labman is right when he says dogs get overfed by their owners thinking it's so cute and your only hurting the dog in the long run.

My Chica Chi is the same way... long and lean... She looks funny to me when I see other Chihuahua's but again, she is healthy sweet and my little girl sooooo... to the people with the little sausage Chihuahua's I always say she is keeping her girlish figure... LOL
