The asker has asked about dating, not about sex.

That being said: bshaw, don't be dumb. A 32 year old who wants to "date" a 17 year old has some serious issues in his or her life. Avoid it.

As for legality, I'm not sure that any state has either defined "dating" or has made laws about it.

But if you are talking about sex, then that may be a different story Google your state laws.

Can you cite me a statute ANYWHERE in the US let alone in NC that regulates an age for dating?

Nope that's NOT what it's there for. The Disagree should ONLY be used in cases of a factually incorrect answer, NOT a difference of opinion. Review the TOS.

BananaPie agrees : Semantics. Dating, involvement, sex. Please stop singling me out. Thanks.

Dating does not always involve or even lead to sexual activity. There is a clear difference between dating and sexual activity. Nor am I singling you out. Yours was incorrect legal advice. I was singling out the advice, not you.

Now we will stop with hijacking this thread and hope the OP comes back and answers some of the questions asked. But clearly a 32 yr old looking for a romantic relationship with a 17 yr old is highly questionable and inappropriate.
