Official Attendance Tally At Trump Tulsa Rally
Trump predicted a full house for the 19,000 seat arena with 200,000 - 300,000 outside the building as an overflow crowd and where he and Pence would give a speech after the rally.

Reality - official tally inside the arena was 6,200 (Fire Marshall). The expected 2-300,000 outside for overflow was next to zero. The Trump and Pence speeches were canceled.

Trump raged, and blamed the disaster on the media, Obama, and on his own medical people who recommended social distancing and wearing masks. The true cost in increased sickness and death won't be seen for at least two weeks.

According to epidemiologists, the death count due to Trump's delay in acknowledging the pandemic ("It's a hoax") is 72,000+, and that's when the total was still under 100,000.

This morning I watched videos of the rally -- many empty seats all across the upper levels, yawning attendees rarely wearing masks and not practicing social distancing, excerpts from an hour and forty-one minutes of Trump's boasting and fabrications and meanderings.

    His return this morning:

About 20 handpicked local officials, small-business owners and reporters
sat in folding chairs, each placed within a large white circle taped on the floor of a recreation center to maintain — or at least encourage — social distancing. A few attendees whispered to each other as photographers quietly chatted. You could hear the clack of typing echoing across the room. The silence was striking."

No doubt the dufus has the bully pulpit, and Biden doesn't. The dufus is the incumbent now that clearly could stand some new material. The old stuff fell flat.

the reason attendance was so low at his event was because he heavily promoted it on AOL chat room and My Space .

Biden and his staff insisted on very limited attendance. Guess why. And it was a presser, not a rally.

Attendance doesn't seem to matter at this point, as Biden leads the dufus in the polls. I doubt the dufus can afford another rally as poor as the one Saturday.

Presser! Ah, tomder didn't mention that. That is an EXTREMELY important point.

[Edit - 8:10pm - Tomder DID mention Biden's was a presser. My error. That fact still makes a huge difference in attendance between Trump's rally and Biden's presser]

[Edit #2 - 8:15pm - Thank you, WG. Our posts are crossing in cyberland. In any case, you made another (?) excellent point in tomder's use of the term "event" - misleading.]

He did mention it in post #4, and I elaborated in post #5.

In post #9, tomder played with words to mislead us (??? No, not tomder!!!) and called it an "event".

The presser was held at a recreation center in the Philadelphia suburbs. Soon, probably this week, Biden and Obama will host a virtual fundraiser. Trump is so old school, so passe.

So popular that people will actually attend his rallies. Biden cannot attract a crowd, but even if he could, it's the part about remembering where he is that causes problems.

Now we know Trump definitely can't attract one. Or make sense when he talks. Or walk down a ramp. Or hold a small glass of water.

The virus is a good excuse if he gets booted from the WH. The challenge is making a case for keeping him there. He needs more than a feeding red meat to the base I think, or dusting off the oldies for the true believers. He did prove he could drink a glass of water with one hand though, which seems to be the highlight of his rally.

Athos and I were talking about your use of the somewhat misleading word "event" (implying a rally) vs. the correct term "presser."

I have to give you credit for your droll sense of humor. Your post #9 is really laugh-out-loud funny!

Actually, all 20 handpicked local officials, small-business owners, and reporters who had been invited to discuss and brainstorm about how to restore the economy showed up. It was held in Darby, PA.

We may never see a traditional campaign rally from Biden given the virus. Like sports may not happen on any level.

Trump isn't garnering much interest so far either, except to live up to his reputation as a lying, cheating dufus. I can add incompetent, and clueless to that reputation from his pandemic response and race relations efforts.

Local field offices are being set up, and teams are being organized. Social media -- Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram in particular -- are already set up with information about Joe and his campaign, and to ask questions of and have chats with Joe.

Right-winger Bolton has revealed that Trump definitely had a quid-pro-quo with Ukraine - start an investigation against Biden and his son in exchange for military assistance (which had already been lawfully promised to Ukraine. Trump's delay caused a number of deaths among Ukranian troops). The bribery deal was widely known among top WH personnel.

Trump attempted a similar bribe with XI - offering trade concessions for Biden dirt.

Testimony soon from Bolton and Dismissed attorney Berman.

So we have a choice between one candidate who had a quid-pro-quo with Ukraine versus a second candidate who had a quid-pro-quo with Ukraine.
