I believe I can provide a definitive answer... and that answer is yes ,Obama is a Christian . I will not comment anymore on motivation since it is opinion based .


The President calls himself and believes himself to be a Christian today and that is really the only relevant point.
In the end ,it is irrelevant how he was raised .

One of the founding fathers of Christianity was a convert . Paul of Tarsus was a Pharisee who had a personal revelation on the 'road to Damascus',to arrest and persecute Christians and eradicate Christianity.He became a devote follower of Jesus after the experience .His letters and Acts are important additions to the New Testament.

Who knows when or if the President travelled the road to Damascus ? He certainly wasn't raised Christian. His autobios describe parents who rejected religion . It is not likely that he was given a strong religious upbringing. Yet he attended (for whatever reason ) a church in Chi-town run by a pastor who preached a brand of Christianity for almost 20 years .
After he threw that pastor under the bus ,it was reported that he did look for a church to attend. The story being told is that he doesn't attend public services due to the security concerns and that his presence would be a distraction. Other President's have not had those issues ;but... whatever.

Mega-church Pastor, Kirbyjon Caldwell ;a spiritual advisor and close friend of President GW Bush is also an Obama supporter and advisor and an informal spiritual adviser to Obama . He was the minister for Jenna Bush's wedding.

Caldwell by all accounts is a believable straight shooter . If he says the President is a Christian you can take that to the bank. Therefore I will dismiss any claim he is Muslim the same way I dismiss any claim that he is not a legitimate President based on his place of birth.

Move on... there are many things to be critical of his tenure and his political philosophy. These other side shows are a distraction that ultimately hurt the legitimacy of those opposed to him and his policies .

I actually do think that Joggs was only looking for an answer to her/his question and wasn't trying to stir things up here.

The problem I have with all the hoopla is that the road traveled is a bumpy one. Yes the president claims to be a chirstian. And that is about as far as it goes. The problem is that he's making a declaration. So with that comes expectations. A few odd things stand out and it makes people wonder. The president refusing to participate in national prayer day and then inviting the muslim community for ramadan celebration doesn't bode well. Another is when ask point blank about Jesus Christ his answer was bland. He had said in a interview that Jesus was a historic figure and didn't seem to latch onto the chistian fath perspective calling him a teacher etc and missing the target as far as calling him the son of god ( a basic christian belief ).

To me it doesn't matter what faith he is just so long as he sticks to one. If his faith wasn't in question at some point then niether would it have been in question for other candidates that were devout mormans.

People have seen enough of the double standards from our chosen leaders and are sick and tired of the double speak. I think that is why its falling into question.

Cal . I actually don't blame him for the downplay. Look at all the garbage and mockery President Bush got for proclaiming his faith unambiguously .

Except that he has participated in other religious celebrations in the White House including a Seder on March 29 of this year celebrating Passover .On April 6 he had a Prayer Breakfast celebrating Easter .

If he as he claims, a Christian, then he would most certainly know the road he is attempting to lead this country down is the wrong road. His views towards the Jews and Israel make me think of what happened to the UK in the last 100 years. Once the most powerful nation on the face of the earth, their choice to turn their backs on Israel has turned them into a second rate country at best. All a Christian needs to do is read the Bible and understand what God says about those that do not support HIS chosen people.

Tom, I agree regarding the treatment of both Romney & Bush. Both were severely mistreated over their beliefs. It is a very sad fact of life that no matter who is in office or running for office, there will always be a faction unhappy with a politician's religion.


Regarding the current President, from his actions I actually think he is an atheist, but that is MY opinion.

I think the fratricide of WWI /WWII and the subsequent drift to Fabian socialism doomed Britannia.The comparison is valid in that the President would indeed steer the ship of state over the socialist cliff .
Not sure about his attitude about Israel .I think ,like other previous President's he sees a legacy in solving the Israel /Palestinian dispute. They all think that they can impose some kind of solution to the issue by arm twisting the Israeli's .Soon they find that there is no better ally in the region and reality hits them between the eyes .
Obama isn't there yet . But you can already see that he realized he blundered last year in his treatment of the Israeli PM.

Sorry to inform you but Obama being a Christian? Please. He is Muslim to the core and only "hides" behind the word Christian like a whore hiding behind a fancy screen.

He does not regularly attend "church" since he has been in office unlike a lot of the former presidents did when they were in office.

If you're right, posting on AMHD about it, or joining your local Tea Party seems like a woefully insufficient response to the possibility that Barack Obama is a Manchurian candidate groomed from birth to undermine democracy and impose Shariah law.

He faults the President for not informing us that change takes a long time.
But the truth is the opposite . It is the President who was impatient to get as much of his agenda done before the electorate got wise to him.

As you know,I have not bought into the extreme musings about the President . However ,identifying his ideological bend as extreme is not wild conspiracy thinking .

He convinced the majority of the United States to get on board his bus ;and he was able to get his compadres in Congress to cliff dive.

He is a bad President in the course he is leading the country . But so far he has been effective in getting done everything that was possible. The Tea Party's are the inevidible backlash.
Perhaps he will do a Clintonoid triangulation after the elections in an attempt to salvage his Presidency. But unlike Bubba ,who has no real convictions ;I think the President is a true believer in what he thinks is right. He sees his god in the mirror and nothing will convince him to moderate.

I will go with excon on this one also, a poor president, totally out of place with the big boys of politics and not able to use Chicago politics in DC.

He has of course learned some of the Muslim doctrine and as any child being taught their parents faith, he may have more respect or have some mixed thoughts on some areas of faith. But baptists don't believe the same as the methodist or the penticostal.

Plus so much that is happening is what laws the Democratic party is writing and pushing, not all in total agreement with him.

He recently went to church with his family... there were no prayer rugs. This signals the unofficial start of his reelection campaign.

There are many sorts of Christians, nominal, practising, born again, Catholic, protestant, pentecostal, traditional, orthadox, etc. No one has hung out a specific tag. Sitting in a church each Sunday doesn't make you a Christian, belief in God doesn't make you a Christian.

He's supporting the Islamic Brotherhood candidate in Egypt right now... that speaks volumes on its own.

No real Christian would sit and listen to the hate speech Rev Jeramiah Wright spewed for 20 years like he did then claim he never heard it when CD's of that clown sermons were sold by that church prove otherwise.

Is he really a Muslim? I don't know... but he's certainly not a Christian (and definitely not a good one). It seems his church attendance paralleled his political ambitions, for show.

He's the leader of the CHurch of ME... no room for another faith there.
