Anyone care to deny the major media in America is LIBERAL?

It has been a while, but I've often seen folks here attempt to deny that the Major Media in the United States is Completely Liberal/Socialistic in there reporting.

I refer to the events in the House of Representatives on Friday.

Wouldn't you think, when one woman (I use that term very loosely) is able to bang her gavel, shut off the lights, and turn of the camera's, while a member was speaking, so that the Democrats could run home, as fast as they can run, to avoid having a vote on off shore drilling, SHOULD be a pretty damned important news story?

That this dog in heat was able to just shut down the House, and allow her folks to run like scared rabbits from the hell hounds on their trail, knowing very well that this vote is
WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT, is a pretty major story, is it not?

Yet, on all three major networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC, there was not even the slightest mention of this days activity?

Yes folks, the media is going to make sure that Obama is our next president. Even if it means openly showing their true colors by the negligence of not even reporting what happened on Friday.

NBC, ABC, and CBS are going to shove this candidate down our throats, like it or not, you will NEVER see balanced, or unbiased reporting from ANY of these Socialist, supposed
News organizations.

Anyone who thinks they are getting the news from these sources is being scammed.

You're correct about ABC. Not so much because they are liberals (they are), but that they are just a miserable bunch to claim newsworthy of broadcasting for general public consumption. Perhaps you would rather have conservative/socialistic news commentary? That's on the FOX news channel. You do realize that most of the news on the major networks is news commentary? Once you get past the headline news at the top of the hour, which takes about ten minutes, there's five minutes of weather, five minute of sports, a ton of commercials, and the rest is commentary. That's just about it. All the rest is commentary pieces, usually with exception of one fluff story at the end of an hour or half hour programming (in TV and radio that's called a teaser). Personally if I'm choosing and have the remote, I watch the NewsHour on the PBS channel.

If Limbaugh does have 20 million weekly listeners as claimed that makes 80 million for the month. Compare to cable news for the first quarter...

We haven't even discussed CNBC, newspapers, Time, Newsweek, etc. So Rush and a few others dominate talk radio? They don't come close to reaching as many people by a long, long, long shot.

I don't know what those numbers tell us. Does it mean that if you watched NBC every day for a month, are you counted 30 times? If you watched NBC every day, and also watched Fox news, are you counted twice?

I'll bet I could find numbers that would support my argument... You DO know what they say about statistics.

I say that rightwing talk radio has as much or MORE influence on the average listener, viewer reader, or voter out there than does all the others combined. I say that because O'Reilly told me it's so.

Luckily we live in America where are sources for news are endless... There are plenty of consevative choices on TV and for newspapers - particularly anything owned by Fox. Also, talk radio tends to be much more conservative.

The media in this country is a free enterprise. Therefore they're #1 concern is not fair, unbiased reporting it is maximizing profits. It is our job to gather all the facts we can and use them to form our own opinions.

The difference is in the viewer, listener, etc... Viewers of the so called liberal media tend to question the news more. They're a bit more discriminating.

Right wing viewers, on the other hand, think the sun rises and sets on the likes of Limprod, Hannity, and O'Rielly.

I guess that no one will be surprised that there will be 3 Presidential debates and one VP debate and not one conservative will serve as moderator in any of them .

Vice presidential debate Thursday, October 2 Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Gwen Ifill Senior Correspondent, The NewsHour PBS will moderate
Second presidential debate (town meeting) Tuesday, October 7 Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. Tom Brokaw NBC News will moderate

Third presidential debate Wednesday, October 15 Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. Bob Schieffer CBS News ,Face the Nation will moderate .

Good to see that moderates are manning the debates - that's what is needed.

Really? So the left is more discriminating? More intelligent? More independent minded? The rest of us are mind-numbed robots guided by Limprod, Hannity, and O'Rielly? Then why are conservatives questioning both candidates while the millions are seduced by Obama?

As usual, this debate has quickly deteriorated into an Us vs. Them, Deomcate/Republican thing. If more people would think for themselves rather than toe the party line, we'd be in a much better place.

With all due respect, I don't think it is party line here. There has been such a great divide between the parties in recent elections due to basic difference in philosophy. I doubt anyone can unite this country. The only thing that might unite us is a REALLY catastrophic attack against our mainland. I would rather squabble that see that happen.

Galveston, I agree that there is a difference in philosophy. I also realize that we are fortunate to have the right to squabble!

But as the divide widens, I wonder why we don't come up with a more middle of the road approach. Less and less seems to be accomplished while the parties find more and more reason to not get along.

The founders squabbled . If it was good enough for them it's good enough for me

Are you making excuses already? If McCain couldn't even negotiate who he wants as a moderator in a least one debate, then that should be your first clue that he's not fit to lead this country.
