Yes but much more successful at it than some. See it from a historical perspective, this is what the people want, a leader and protector, not a wimp, and don't let your prejudice against conservativism show. Fortunately, he is not a war monger, like some

Strongman yes ; authoritarian no .The India leader has to be strong ,surrounded by Jihadistan and China's aggression . He has yet to fully implement his economic programs . When he does watch out . India is the largest democracy in the world and when they lose the socialist restrictions that the Gandhi family prefers they will be an economic power house .

They have MORE people, and hold election, but practice a strict CLASS system. That's great if you are in the elite class not so much if your NOT. Rough neighborhood for sure.

Britain's May just announced her resignation as prime Minister. That's interesting too as we await the next one.

The greatest class (caste) in India are the poor, is it not so in your country. Tal how are your elites doing, not feeding the poor, I bet. one of India's greatest problems is the loss of vultures, pity it isn't so elsewhere.

May's resignation was coming, what else could you do with a rebellious parliament who ignore the will of the people, you have had much experience with that, so some answers please

Look in your own mirror for answers Clete, because one thing the elites have been great at is suppressing the masses, and dividing the classes. You follow in the same mold because somehow you are convinced of your own superiority because your big resource rich island is scarcely populated and hasn't been ravaged and exploited for centuries by a greater force. I guess you were born at a good time and had little opposition to your own migratory conquest.

Count your blessings instead of looking down your nose at those that have endured the worst of humanity.

the people voted for Brexit . May couldn't make it happen . good riddance. There is no institutionalization of the caste system . It lingers socially like many things in our country The breakdown of caste is ultimately the goal of Modi and his party because it wants to form a united Hindu society.

Not quite sure of whom you speak, unless it is the benighted Muslims in that god-forsaken place. They had the opportunity to leave. Many indians still take the opportunity to leave

I do count my blessings Tal, it is truly a blessing to have been born here and not elsewhere. Which migratory conquest do you speak of, the waves of migrants who came over thousands of years, the incursion of the british, or the current asian incursion. This place is not as sparcely populated as you might think. You see most of it doesn't even support one bandicoot to the acre, so we cannot afford to allow ourselves to be overrun by those huddled masses you think so highly of. If you have endured the worst of humanity you know who to blame

We haven't done so bad being a country of immigrants and huddled masses, despite our bloody history of the worst of humanity. Guess we keep working to do better. Despite rumors to the contrary and all those folks flooding in we are hardly over run. If those elites stop stealing and hoarding the money we could easily be doing better. Everyone not just some.

The interesting thing about the Brexit debacle is no plan B from the peanut gallery, and it remains to be seen if there will be one. Wonder will they just leave the EU and screw the details?

I wish Modi luck with that united Hindi society. Wonder how many non Hindi's he will have to kill, jail, or deport?

number killed after the assassination of Gandhi . Or the 660 killed during the Gujarat riots in 1969 . or how about the 164 killed and 600 injured during the Mumbai attack in 2008

Best explain that blanket statement so I don't attribute the southern migration to the north with the oppressive conservative policies of the south.

He would probably tell him the ex spy intel officer is a whistleblower against what many think is a lying, cheating, dufus.

exhibit A :San Francisco is the nation’s leader in property crime. Burglary, larceny, shoplifting, and vandalism are included under this ugly umbrella. In 2017 over 30,000 reports of car break-ins were filed, and the current average is 51 per day. But at least they keep people safe from plastic straws .

    Exhibit B :
    Quote:

New York City's dwindling middle class has been leaving the city in droves, as the city loses over 130 residents every day according to the latest US Census data.
Comprising 48% of city residents, those with annual incomes between $30,000 and $60,000 are feeling the squeeze from higher living costs, wage stagnation and high taxes that whittle away at disposable income. New York's exodus is topped only by Chicago

I forget to mention Chi-town that other progressive tyranny .

So where is this mass exodus from the bastion's of progressive tyranny? Even Chicago for all the big city problems ain't in danger of being empty. Nobody in the middle class is making money even with the repub tax cuts, since prices and the cost of living far exceed wage growth. Go visit the mid west if you want to see ghost towns.
