high speed rail .lol The VAST majority of travel here is local . What I'm talking about is the infrastructure to bring LNG to filling stations so nat gas engines compete with gasoline engines in the market place. What I'm talking about is 21st century roads that can accommodate driverless vehicles . What I'm talking about is light rail running parallel to highways . What I'm talking about is pipelines that keep us from having to transport energy over roadways and freight rail .
The notion that America’s infrastructure is “crumbling” and in poor condition is not supported by data. The percentage of the nation’s bridges deemed “structurally deficient”has declined annually and now sits at under 10 percent, well under half of what it was 25 years ago
Our airports and airways safely move more people and goods than those of any other nation. Overall, the U.S. ranks near the top of G-7 nations for infrastructure quality .
The revenue that are collected through the gas tax and tolling is more than enough to cover filling pot holes and building new bridges when necessary . And it is not like that is the sole source of funding . We had $800 billion in shovel ready porkulus at the beginning of the emperor's reign ;and another $305 billion bill passed a few years ago. So any state that wants to invest in old infrastructure ;go ahead and knock yourselves out .
Eliminate all funding for local and wasteful projects such as bike paths. The Federal government should chip in for the maintenance of the Interstate system only .
Don't expect the rest of the country to pay for pot hole filling on county roads .
But if you want 21st century infrastructure ,then I'm all for it . Reduce the stagnating regulations that prevent development of a national broad band . Privatize airports like many European nations have already done. That's just a few ideas .
