Even with the back ground check they can still sell the gun. It is already a crime to do so. From the article :

Vigil has been charged with unlawful purchase of a firearm, a Class 4 felony.


So how is the back ground check going to help? This is a clear case of someone knowingly aiding and abedding. Nothing will stop that.

As she has been charged with a felony if she is convicted she won't be doing it again ;)

I've read a lot of reports, none of them mention their political leanings or motivations. And you can't go by names since the US is a melting pot.
